  2. First set of aligners!

I picked up my first two sets of aligners on 8/15/13 morning! The appointment was a little...underwhelming. I was hoping to get a cool starter kit like some of you have, but I only got the standard Invisalign welcome kit. I asked about Chewies, but the tech said that only people whose trays don't fit well will need them. (I am planning to ask for some at my next visit because I found that they help my aligners fit more snugly).

I was a little annoyed at the tech when she had me ...
  3. Just getting started with Invisalign!

Here we go! Finally saved enough money to get my teeth straightened. I managed to land a decent paying job with great benefits a couple of years ago. However, I'm a little bummed out to find out that the ortho portion of my dental plan only covers individuals who are 18 (maybe it was 21) or younger. Regardless, I had been putting money aside every pay cheque for this and well, yep! I decided to finally have it done.

I have been visiting several orthodontic clinics over the past weeks ...

  4. I got to see my Clinchecks today!

I was hoping that I would have my trays by now, but at least everything is moving forward smoothly.

I went to see my orthodontist today, and he let me see the two Clinchecks he made for me so that I could choose a treatment plan. Originally he thought that I would need two extractions, which worried me because I am already missing three adult teeth due to poor dental care when I was younger. Also, when I had my wisdom teeth taken out recently, I had a bad infection and I didn't want ...

  5. Nerves....

So it's only 2 and half weeks until i get my braces on and I'm starting to get a little nervous!!

Is the pain really bad when the teeth are moving?
Do you feel like you teeth are going to fall out or wobbly?
How long is your mouth sore for?
Am i going to speak the same?

I could go on forever with questions, ughh i shouldn't worry too much its going to be the best decision I've made.
I'm definitely very excited for them, very anxious to see ...
  6. Imaging is done!

I went to get all my imaging done today. I had a panoramic x-ray, and something else that required little knobs to go in my ears! Both took seconds to do, so this part was easy.

The iTero (or iOC, I'm not sure what the difference was) scan was really neat from a nerdy point of view. The tech had me lay back in the chair, and she took pictures of each of my teeth going from the lower left quadrant, lower right, upper right, then upper left. She did the buccal side of each and then ...

  7. The anticipation is killing me!

I can't believe that I am finally going to straighten my teeth! I have wanted to do this since high school, but my family was always poor so orthodontics was never an option. Now, thanks to the incredible health benefits from my husband's new job, it's happening!

I would like to document my experience because others' blogs have been so helpful to me, and to help me track my progress.

  8. Week one

    image.jpgIMG_3951.jpgIMG_3966.jpgIMG_3956.jpg
After so many years of being unhappy with my teeth I'm finally starting this journey. I went to a few different orthodontists and they all told me that in order to have braces I'd have to have surgery on both my upper and lower jaw. The oral surgeons I saw we're great, but one, who was a former client of mine seven I used to cut hair, told me I shouldn't go through with the surgery. ...

  9. So it begins... Tray 1

    Hello everyone!

    Quick summary:
25U and 25L, 19 attachments and one elastic (hate this!)

    Some history:
I had fixed braces done when I was a teen (more than ten years ago), and because of crowding on the upper jaw, at that time my dentist extracted a right premolar. But due to the imbalance, my mid-line shifted considerably to the right. Since then, there has been some relapse and my front teeth are protruding more than I'd like.

    When consulting ...

  10. Counting down the days!!

After years of wanting/needing braces, I've finally sat down looked at my expenses and I am now starting treatment on July 29th!!
I am sooo excited! I'm 19 and have quite bad crowded teeth due to a narrow jaw. I'm only getting my top teeth done has they are my main issue when I smile and all I can manage to afford right now. I had my consultation with my orthodontist today and I have decided to go with the clear ones, I'm a bit worried about the staining that they may possibly cause so if ...
  11. First day!

    Hey there,
So I got my trays about... an hour ago. LOL.. ugh. So I have 12 attachments, TWO of them are on my VERY FRONT TOOTH... that really bums me out. I was a little more upset before the ortho cleaned up the attachments a little bit, that front tooth felt like it was COVERED in glue. Gross. I think I have 8 on top, 4 on bottom? And two assistants struggled getting the template off before putting on my actual tray, so that stressed me WAY out. I was mentally preparing myself for ...

  12. Getting to this point

I am five days away from getting my Invisalign trays and starting what is sure to be a crazy, but rewarding, journey. It's weird, being 26 years old (ugh, but 27 in 2 days...) and telling people I am off to the orthodontist and I'm getting braces. So, I'm thinking back to the road I've been on.

I remember when I was in 6th grade and my friends started getting braces. Somehow it was cool... and it was even cooler to see them get taken off in 8th grade, and these friends of mine ...

  14. Today was the Day! (Tray 1)

by , 05-03-2013 at 04:42 PM (Invisalign experience)
Well, today was the Day! I've had my first Trays of invisalign braces put on. 23 attachements: 12 lower and 11 upper. Two of them popped out right now, after less than two hours.

First impressions: it's not so bad (at least at the moment). At the beginning my speech wasn't affected but I'm havig a bit of lisp now.

Visibility: it's almost invisible if you are 2 or 3 meters far from me but, with all that attachments, if you are nearest it seems like I'm wearing clear ...

  15. Enjoying last few days with free teeth :-)

by , 04-29-2013 at 05:32 PM (Invisalign experience)
Well, in 4 days I'll be invisaligned for, at least, the next two years. My journey started in february when I went to my dentist asking for a solution for my missing molar that causes me to use only half part of my mouth for chewing. After the dentist have studied my molds and rx he told me I could choose two options: implant after braces for the uprighting of the teeth that had reclined and rotated in the mean while (I miss my molar more than 20 years ago) or only braces to definetly close the ...
