  1. Anxious to get started!

Okay, so here's my story. It will probably sound familiar, actually, from what I've read on this forum.

I have 10mm overjet, complete overbite, class I on the right side but class II on the left side, and pretty significant crowding, especially on the bottom. My family couldn't afford braces and I did try to go it on my own in college, but was told that I would need jaw surgery so I didn't pursue it any further.

I am now 42 and can't stand it anymore. I never smile ...

  2. 10 Months and 1 Day...

It has been 10 months since I got my braces put on :party:and OMG I am just overjoyed. Yep everyone was right the time is FLYING by! I remember when I got them put on and now I am into the double digit month. My teeth are doing their thing and moving along the way that they should. My ortho is pleased with my progress and the pain is all relative in comparison to the results that I am having.
Well it seems that my family is just as excited as I am and although there are still a few jealous

  3. Time to go...

Well, after the final consultation, I went back to the original orthodontist. Cost was a major consideration as the 2nd ortho doesn't work with my insurance company, which would set me back an insane amount of money out of my own pocket. Add to this, she was charging close to an additional $1,350 for the same treatment plan.

Last week, I had my oral surgery appointment to have teeth #6 and #12 removed. The canine was impacted and afterwards, I was sutured up from the lateral incisor ...

  4. Possibly Transferring Ortho's

I had a consult with a new ortho today about possibly transferring and I was very pleased with him. He's friendly, understanding, and said he'd be glad to answer any questions I have. He also told me that I'd only need braces for 18 months instead of the 24 that I was quoted by the one I'm seeing. He also said that they do pain management for patients who go through prolonged pain after adjustments. This is great since my current ortho doesn't do it. This one's office would also take care of everything ...

  5. 6-22 adjustment

Yesterday I had an adjustment done for my braces. when choosing the color for my braces, I thought I would go more eccentric then before. I thought lavender was a little more out there than gray. Well.... I was a little too right. It turned out looking a little lighter than a neon PINK. Wow. They also decided that I would get a steel, more painful, wire. But I have to say my bite has opened up alot! I am excited about that. It doesn't really feel like headgear is doing that much though... I have ...

  6. Adjustment

I had an adjustment yesterday. Ortho says the bite looks great so he told me stop wearing the elastics for now as he wants to see if the bite holds in place. Other than that, just a couple minor adjustments; wearing a power chain on top an a power chain on bottom. It must be my imagination but this adjustment has been a breeze - no sensitivity / nothing. I hope it's the same from now on :braces:.

  7. First blog entry....18 days in

I wish I would have taken pictures of Day 1 with braces. Oh well, better late than never. I want to track the progress of my Damon braces and bite turbos.

The first week was very painful, and I was very close to throwing in the towel. Luckily, I am getting used to eating with the bite turbos and can chew enough so I am no longer on a soft foods diet. I wasn't sure I could survive on mashed potatoes and ice cream.

Here are the pictures 18 days in...

  9. Made an Account- Lets give an update!

I have had braces since March and they are pretty cool and also really fun! I am not the person who looks good in braces, but I love them anyways. I have 4 brackets on my from teeth and I have to wear neckgear 12-16 hours everyday. Next tuesday I'll be going in, and just getting an adjustment. I'll post again then! :lips: :braces:

  10. Powerchains... What Powerchains?!?!?

Ok! 10 days later and now I can finally eat again. The pain really only lasted 7 days which I guess were ok seeing as though I was convinced that the pain would never go away I had to cut one of my wires already on the top teeth because I noticed that my teeth had already begun to move.
I believe that my powerchains are doing their duty and assisting me in the best way possible. Although I don't see my ortho again until around the 20th of next month and I am already ready for my

  11. 1st adjustment done

So I had my adjustment this morning. I told him about my jaw hurting badly and about my "most likely cavity". He told me that in order for him to work on my jaw, I'd have to have my braces taken off for about 2-3 weeks and that would delay my treatment time. If I can manage to deal with my jaw, I'll be wearing these things a total of 20-22 months. I went to the chiropractor and he said that the right side of my jaw was badly twisted and he was suprised it wasn't dislocated. Nevertheless, ...

  12. ELASTIC - FINALLY!!!! (2nd Adjustment)

Went in this afternoon for my first cleaning since being braced, and I must admit… it was one of the more pain-FREE cleanings I’ve ever had. She said that my diligence in flossing really paid off because my tartar buildup was only very mild as compared to how it used to be. She may have been a bit more careful, too, because of the wires. At any rate, my teeth came out nice and clean. :D

On my way out, I passed by my ortho’s office (next door) and saw they were still open at 3:30 PM. ...

  13. Second tray

I'm over half way through tray 2. I'm surprised how much easier everything has become. The first week I questioned my decision to get invisalign. My mouth was only sore for a day with the new tray, and it was nothing compared to the first tray. I already can tell that I have movement. It's nothing that I can see, but my bite is completely different now. My only complaint is how noticeable my top attachments are. It looks like I have bread stuck on my teeth. It makes me feel uncomfortable smiling. ...
