Oral (Orthognathic) Surgery entries here.
Finally decided to get my invisalign!
Went to a few consultations and I was advised that due to my bottom row crowding, a lower incisor will need to be extracted! 2 months ago I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out.
So on April 12th, I got my lower incisor extracted and was terrified cause the gap was pretty substantial! Waited a week for it to recocer to start my first tray!
I have attched the starting a ending clinchecks!
So I recently got braces n my orthodontist told me he could bring my tooth down very nice so 3 months into braces I see the oral surgeon who is sure he will not be able to bring it down due to its positioning n ordered a ct scan than said if anyone can bring it down its uR orthodontist cause he has done things I didn't think was possible so once I get that ct scan we will go in for the surgery now I'm scared cause my teeth r straight I have a full mouth of braces for one tooth n there is a possibility
Well, I went to the dentist last night to get a check up on how my teeth are healing as one of the bottom right ones has been quite sore and I tend to "suck" on it when I swallow and it hurts!! anyway he reassured me that everything is normal and healing ok so that is good!
He squeezed the heck out of the sore hole and said he thought he pulled some pus out of it , and i said it could of been porridge from last friday lol! but he said there is no swelling or anything so
Let me just start by saying that I am so proud of myself and so brave! lol.
Today I had the 5 teeth extracted. It was so much LESS than what I thought it was going to be! I was so worried going in I was so nervous I was shaking a bit! BUT I DID IT!!
I went in to the dentist room, sat in the chair and took a deep breath. I asked the dentist to check out my molar bands as I was worried about discolouration that i thought was happening BUT turns out, it was just a
I have the brackets and the things to have the wire but I don't have the wire on yet. My two upper canines are high one is somewhat in place and the right upper canine is basically above the tooth that comes before the canine because that tooth is in it's place the orthodontist wants to extract all 4 of the canines and I am only 15 my mom is not so open to the idea I wanted to do some research about it and I learned that the canines are very important to the bite
I have gotten my impressions made for my Invisalign and then today the doctor wanted to tell us that I have to get my wisdom teeth taken out and I DO NOT WANT TO BECAUSE I HATE THE PROCEDURE PAIN NEEDLES STITCHES ALL OF THAT IDK WHAT TO DO DO I HAVE TO GET MY TRAYS WHAT IS THE BEST THING TO DO!?!?!?!?!!? if i do would the doctor work with me if i have a certain way of how I want things done for the wisdom teeth to be taken out?
I currently have braces. I am paying out of pocket. Every orthodontist I went to told me I need Oral surgery to correct my under bite. I went to an oral surgeon to have an impacted tooth pulled (also paid out of pocket $1200
:( and he also recommended I have surgery. (He was awsome surgeon St. Lukes in Pa) Does anyone know of a good insurance that I can apply for to help me out with the cost? The oral surgeon told me it would be around $20,000 for the surgery. I simply cannot afford it.
After the lingual arch was in, a couple weeks later, still in August of 2012, I had my 4 bicuspids removed. 2 upper and 2 lower.
This was a little unnerving for me because although I've had my lower wisdom teeth removed, I did it with only local anesthetic. Admittedly, I'm a little chicken of being put under as nothing in life has forced me to do this. In fact, I've never even had an I.V. at this point.
I realize many of you may thing this was silly, but it was
Hi guys, im new to this site! So I have some questions for you guys. I am a freshman in high school and i still have not got braces yet. My teeth are a pet peeve, and im getting on braces in december. I lose my baby canine tooth in August and hopefully it will grow in soon. My dentist said the grown up tooth is in the proper place! My left canine tooth is still a baby tooth and the grown up tooth is crocked. I think the orthodontist is going to list my gum, attach a wire to the braces, and the tooth
First I'll apologize for how long this post is going to be, but so much has happened in the past few weeks...
So.... Extractions are done!!! I woke up Tuesday morning nervous and not knowing what to expect. I had my wisdom teeth removed back in February because they were impacted [the results of a small mouth :/ ] but I was out cold for the whole thing. Fortunately the extractions were a lot easier than I expected [it helped that my dentist rocks ;) ]. First she placed some cotton
I'VE BEEN TO CONSULTANTS WHO ARE SPECIALISTS IN THIS, ONE TOLD ME I NEEDED FOUR EXTRACTIONS, AND ANOTHER TOLD ME I DON'T NEED EXTRACTIONS. PLEASE TELL ME YOUR OPINION, BECAUSE I'LL NEVER HAVE MY TEETH BACK AFTER AN EXTRACTION IF I FOLLOW THROUGH. MY CURRENT ORTHODONTIST (WHICH I WILL GET BRACES VERY SOON) IS TELLING ME THAT WITHOUT EXTRACTIONS THE BRACES WILL ALIGN MY TEETH BUT THEY WILL STICK OUT AND WONT LOOK GOOD. THE OTHER ORTHODONTIST TOLD ME THAT BRACES IS ENOUGH TO PUSH PACK MY TEETH INTO
Well tomorrow is my surgery.
Any wise words before the battle?
I know I cant eat 12 hours prior to the procedure.
I'm cooking plenty of SOFT FOOD in advance.
Pain killers will be provided.
Am I missing anything else??
Anybody got exposure for impacted canine? Does the chain get caught alot? I bet thats painful!!
Gotta love it when you grab an appointment by ringing up on the day :)
I phoned my ortho yesterday morning asking if they'd had any cancellations because my surgeon comes over from his hospital to the ortho's one every month or so. I originally had an appointment in July, but thought "Hey I'm free today, I know it's the joint clinic, so why not phone up on the off-chance?" and thank goodness there was one, I hate being kept hanging around.
She said "We
`/for any new comers to my blog I have had jaw surgery and 6 week post op. Been on a strict no chew diet and yesterday my surgeon gave me the ok to chew SOFT foods. She specially told me not to go buy a steak even though I am craving it so bad. As for swelling wise all is most part gone sensation and feeling wise in my lower lip is still a work in progress. I see my ortho next week to get these god damn surgical hooks back aqnd boy can I see the light at the end of the tunnel. will post pictures
So I am a little over 5 weeks post op and i cannot be more pleased with the results. I still am a tiny bit swollen but not for nothing it isnt as bad as I had pictured. Only thing that I dislike is not being able to sleep through the night because i cannot sleep on my side, and that I am legit constantly hungry. I have an appointment next week with the surgeon and hopefully will get the ok to chew. Was never banded or had a bite splint. Also set up my ortho appointment so that I can get these god
