I went to my Orthodontist appointment this morning and I was told that this is my last wire change. I had to ask, 'Really'?!? (In shock) ...Because, I was told I would need a brace for around 18 month - 2 years. I have only had a brace for a year (on 15th November). I will get my brace off very soon. I wasn't expecting to be told that at all, so I am really delighted. As soon as the brace is off I will post before and after pictures. Which are pretty 'whoa'. I'm really pleased with the overall process
Soooo 7 Months and 3 weeks to go until brace off, argh!
Getting so close...yet so far lol.
Excited about getting my brace taken off, it's preventing me from going to a new job, I really want to return to being a Nanny, I work in childcare right now and I feel stuck in that job, purely because I don't want to go for interviews with a geeky brace lol. But I will stick it out and possibly I'll just be brave enough to go for an interview if I do find the perfect replacement
Well if I do have braces on for the recomended 18 months, then I am officially past half way through :) 9 months to go, it's like waiting on a pregnancy lol only straight teeth rather than stretch marks, I know which I prefer :p
My bottom teeth are finally straight. I'm surprise they had enough room to straighten out, because they were so over crowded, just glad I didn't need any teeth taken out in the end.
Here are some progression photos, from 4 weeks, 6 months and how my bottom teeth are today. Then finally a photo of my top teeth a few weeks ago.
the photos are quite funny, I look like a tooth monster.
6 Months and 1 week...and finally my bottom teeth have completely straightened out. There was some over crowding with the front bottom four teeth and now it's gone! I haven't had much pain throughout the braces, but Wednesday night and during Thursday the pain was sooo bad, that I didn't get much sleep during the night and I avoided talking at work. It felt like constant tooth ache and brushing them was painful. Now I see that my teeth were just straightening out and there has been such fast movement,
Just over two weeks until I get my next wire change (top and bottom). Almost 1/3 of the way through the whole brace thing :)
As you can see the bottom ones still need a lot of work lol. But they aren't seen as much, when talking, smiling, etc... so I'm pleased with the progress. Can't wait until the are all straight though.

I have had a brace for 5 months now - So I have 13 months to go (if I go by the 18 month estimate time) but less than that would be great :)
14 weeks with braces. One of my top teeth did overlap a tiny bit (a few weeks ago), but my top teeth do not overlap at at all now.
My bottom four teeth still need a little room, because they are still a little overcrowded (but not as bad). I'm expecting that another month and a half or so should sort that out.
I can't believe that it's almost 3 months with a brace. The time is going so fast and having a brace doesn't bother me at all now. Esp now, seeing the progress.... it's well worth getting a brace and anybody worried about deciding whether to or not - I would say - GO FOR IT! It's likely to be one of the best choices you'll ever make.
I had my first wire change on my top teeth almost a week ago, and it only hurt for the first day.
The next wire change will be for both
My top teeth have a new wire, but the bottom have the same wire - because they are still moving :) It took only 5 mins to change it.
I like seeing my orthodontist...cos he always goes way over the top with praising my dental hygiene lol. I was a little worried that I couldn't brush my teeth as well once a brace was fitted, but it's nice to know that I'm still keeping up with the oral hygiene.
I have to confess that since having the brace fitted, I still use an electric
9 weeks into treatment.
