Changing Orthodontist

If you are going to be moving and changing orthodontist it is important you let your current orthodontist know right away.  If your case is rather simple and straight forward then you won’t run into too many obstacles.

The most important thing you should do is personally deliver your records to the new orthodontist.  This includes all records, pictures, molds, etc. that your future orthodontist will need in order to give you proper treatment.

You should start looking for an orthodontist and call him/her before you decide to move.  This will be like shopping all over for a good ortho, but you don’t want to settle for someone that is just convenient and nearby.

Find out how long the orthodontist has been practicing, where they went to school, and other interview type questions that will make you feel more comfortable about your future treatment with this orthodontist.

And lastly, don’t forget to discuss future payments.  The price may go up and it may now, as the new orthodontist really does not gain anything financially if you are almost all done with your treatment.  In many cases the orthodontist will up the price just so he/she can benefit from the short period of time you will be at their office.
