Cost For Metal Braces

When shopping around for pricing on dental braces, you will find that the oldest and more traditional form of teeth braces will be the best bang for your buck.   Metal braces are usually used in mild and severe cases when the most movement is needed.   While they are the least attractive, they are the most effective forms of orthodontics till this day.  Metal braces are also used to save money when compared to the newer treatment forms on the market such as Invisalign or iBraces (braces behind the teeth).

You can expect to pay round $1800 to $3800 for a full case of metal braces and in some cases orthodontic insurance will cover a portion of the metal braces cost.  Most patients will wear the braces for around 2 years and then go into post braces treatment with retainers for some time after.  Retainers are usually included in the cost of the braces, however this varies from orthodontist.   We recommend you ask your orthodontist if the retainers are included in the price, or you can expect to pay around $200 for each retainer.  Hawley retainers are usually used; however this will vary with your case.

If you decide to go with ceramic braces on top for the clear attribute, than you can expect to pay more.  Invu brackets are becoming increasingly popular for their invisible appearance and work well with metal braces on the bottom.  Many people do not show their bottom teeth much when talking or smiling, so having metal on the bottom and clear/ceramic on top is a great option.

If you prefer a more invisible type braces treatment such as Invisalign, you can expect Invisalign cost to be quite a substantial jump compared to metal braces.    There are several forms of invisible braces now available on the market; however we recommend you do your research and find the best solution for you.
