The term prostho means artificial so this specialty deals with use of artificial materials (as teeth and/or dentures, crowns) to replace a missed teeth (whether lost during a trauma or extracted in the process of treating another condition).

Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery
This specialty focuses on diagnoses and surgical treatment of diseases, defects or injuries of the mouth, jaws, head or face and neck. The specialty deals with diagnosis and treatment of TMJ or temporomandibular joint. When a person is involved in a trauma of face these surgeons are called to treat the broken bones of jaws and/or face.

Oral Pathology
This is a discourse of nature of diseases that affect all of the parts of mouth including teeth, cheeks, lips, jawbones and some parts of neck and face. The specialist is referred to as oral pathologist.

Pediatric Dentistry
This specialty deals handling dental problems of children. A pedodontist will take care of child’ oral health right from birth through adolescence.

Cosmetic Dentistry
This specialty seems to enjoy a lot of fanfare than any other dental specialty and as it sounds it deals with cosmetic aspects of your mouth that includes correcting teeth and/or gum problems to give the best ever smile a person can sport. It differs from conventional dentistry, as it doesn’t focus on health of teeth or gums. It is involved in whitening of the teeth or use of veneers and restorative dental materials to give a smile makeover to a person.
