Do Braces Hurt

For those about to get braces on, a common question is “Do Braces Hurt”.  The answer in most cases is no and it is a different kind of pain.  When you get the braces tightened or power chains put on, you can feel your teeth moving and this is the pain you may feel.  However it is short lived and usually goes away in a few days.

Usually the pain is not enough to warrant taking an over the counter pain reliever, but it varies from patient to patient.  Over all the experience is very pleasurable and a large percentage of patients report absolutely no pain at all.  In fact some like to feel slight pain to know their teeth are moving.

If you are concerned, you should consult with your orthodontist.  Children to adults across the world go through orthodontic treatment and report great results and it is worth the cost and years of treatment.

Getting braces on is your decision and usually turns out to be one of the best ones of your life.  Your smile speaks loudly and self confidence even louder.
