I have one impacted canine ... the upper right. You're very lucky that your's have been able to come down, as mine is lying vertical and attached to my jaw bone and has had to be left where it lies. It's too risky to remove or expose it, due to it's placement near nerves and the roots of other teeth.
In my case, my orthodontist is closing the gap, by bringing all the teeth behind where the canine should be, forward. This is a long procedure, but the gap is nearly closed ... which is exciting.
Hopefully your canines will settle nicely beside your lateral incisors and will stay there with ongoing retainer wear.
