Great your treatment has started neomoon and you're happy with your ice brackets.

Ice brackets are available for both upper and lower arches, as with all types of brackets. The issue for many orthodontistis is, that these brackets are so hard, if they are knocked by other teeth, the teeth risk being chipped. For this reason some orthodontists will not put them on the lower teeth, although it usually does depend upon your bite.

The orthodontist's I work for, will use ceramic brackets on both upper and lower as long as the persons bite is good. They still are made aware of the issues re the hardness of the brackets, and the risk of chipping the upper teeth. Many still choose to have ceramic brackets on their lowers and they look great.

Staining ligs can be frustrating, but remember it's the same no matter if you have ceramic or stainless brackets ... they're the same ligs and they stain the same. We offer white teflon coated wire ties and stainless wire ties (very thin) as non staining options, and many people with ceramic brackets choose these options. Also many of our patients enjoy wearing coloured ligs, and the darker colours mostly don't stain. Purple and black being the two that don't show staining or fading.

I really think that we're more aware of the staining than those around us, as few people study our teeth the way we do.

Please keep us informed of your progress.
