I definitely agree with Punkin about you deserving time and attention from your doc, and that setting up a consultation with him may be a good approach to getting your questions answered.

This said, if the issue is one of an asymmetry of the jaw itself - an issue with the skeleton - then orthodontia is not going to be able to address that, as adult orthodontic treatment really is about moving the teeth only. (For kids, some modification of growth patterns can be accomplished.) If this is not causing you functional issues, and is barely noticeable, then you may be better off not addressing it, as doing so would probably involve surgery.
