I currently have all metal damon braces. I originally wanted the clear traditional braces, but my ortho preferred to use the damon all metal braces so I ended up getting these. He said that if I really wanted the traditional clear he would use those instead, but ultimately I chose to use the ones he was more comfortable with and with him leaving the decision up to me made feel great. I went in for my adjustment today and my ortho says he is very pleased with my progress. I know I am pleased because my midline discrepancy is resolved (or so it seems) and my bite is coming along quite well. I have been doing some research, and tomorrow is my day...I'm going in to get the Sapphire Brackets, however I hear a lot of good things about the Damon System. Well it is Tuesday and I just got back from getting my first set of trays. I was in and out of the ortho office within 30 minutes. They showed me how to put them in and take them out. It is actually very easy, no problems so far. I have done it on my own with no problems. However, in two weeks I go back to my ortho and I will have the attachments put on at that time. For as long as I can remember, my lower lip has always seemed a bit thicker than my top lip. It's a subtle difference but something I noted in my side profile. And while I often noted how my misbehaving incisor poking out from between closed lips contributed to my lopsided "no teeth" smile, I didn't realize how much my overbite contributed to my formerly protruding lower lip. Just returned from my 6th adjustment, wire changed in the lower arch and a few bends and twists to alter height issues. Top set, new wire AND a clear power chain from the left back molar all the way around to the right pre-molar, you cant see it but it mean my mid line is being corrected and the gaps in my front teeth are being brought together. Then NEWS! Ortho said, we are nearly done...EARLY! Brace is coming off in May or June. I cannot believe it, I am so pleased ...
Only a few more days til I get my braces. Tomorrow I get my heavy duty cleaning and a couple feelings then Thursday at 2pm (CDT) onto my braces! I've wanted this for over 15 years. I can't wait to get to know all my braced brothers and sisters on here.
