After much thought, and after reading many suggestions on this site, I decided to get a second consultation. I just was not comfortable with my first ortho's negative feelings about ceramic braces (which I had expressed interest in). I called my dentist and was referred to another ortho, who happens to be just a couple of doors away from my first ortho I had consulted a few days prior. I called him right after they opened and was in his office 30 minutes later. Long story short - I've ...
... well that's if you don't include the 3 over-correction trays at the end. In the past month, I've managed to get sick as many times as I've changed trays and so this past month has felt exceedingly long. I am hopefully getting over my second cold though and with some luck the rest of treatment should just fly by. I've got a few weddings to attend over the summer and elated about it the unseasonably warm weather we've been getting (no more snow!). Not surprisingly, ...
Hello All, I realize I haven't updated this thing in ages. I've been super busy or just lazy about it. Well I am almost done my treatment on my upper teeth. I started wearing these 5th trays on the 23rd. I have a full arch now the only thing that i guess i am not as happy about, if anything, is that on my right side my canine is not perfectly aligned with the right lateral incisor. but it's not that bad. i mean i dont even think i'll be able to get this fixed ...
New here. I just started invisalign a month ago. Honestly the thought that I have do deal with this for close to 2 years is kind of a bummer. I just hope the time goes by quick and I look forward to having a pretty smile at the end of this. I have really crowded teeth. My tops are worse than the bottom teeth. The top will take 33 trays with refinements after that I am sure. And the bottoms will take 16 trays. Right now I'm on tray #2. I haven't really noticed any visible ...
Hi everyone, I'm 18 and have put braces off for way too long. I'm ready to get them on, because it is a necessary step to getting jaw surgery to correct my underbite. Being a college student, I'm not looking forward to 1-2 years with braces but I know it will be worth it in the end! I would love to hear from others, including those that have or are planning on getting jaw surgery as well. As for braces, I would like them to be the least noticeable, but what are people's feelings ...
I’ve finally decided to take care of something that should’ve been done 30 years ago – take care of this overjet problem I’ve had since grade school. (Warning to Kids: This is what chronic thumbsucking will do to you!) I got a referral from my regular dentist for a (FREE!) consultation with an orthodontist who works right next door to him, and I was able to get in to see him the very same day. His office was very busy; however, he had a lot of techs there with him and everything moved ...

Thank you, Bill Hicks! Just back from my appointment with the orthodontist. I think I'm going with this one for my surgery, even though the surgeon stated that he'll work with any orthodontist I choose. She's conveniently located (right next door) to the OMS's office and, they're married, so I know they're collaborating with each other on more than one level. She's a little more expensive, even with the insurance, but she's also not making any wild ...
Had my first official appointment with my Ortho yesterday after having the initial trays. I was expecting lots of IPR and scary stuff, but none of that happened He just checked the spaces between my teeth said they were ok and sent me away with more trays. I have to go back before tray ten for IPR on my top teeth, then by looking at the Clincheck I should only have one more lot of IPR to go. My ortho put my new trays in for me, and managed to catch my cheek in them :-( Think ...
Well I was supposed to go into get my first adjustment tomorrow, but last night when I was eating dinner one of my back brackets came off. So I went in this morning instead. Dr said that he has seem movement already, its only been 4 weeks . When they took the wires out I was able to REALLY floss. It felt sooo good, you know like when you clean your ears out with a cotten swab. They were able to put the next size wire in. Needless to say I'm a little tender today..... ...
They're finally off, hello beautiful smile of mine I've had it removed today & I must say the process was such an ease! I had minor discomfort when my ortho was taking off the glue & polishing my teeth, but it was over in a jiffy & I felt fine after that. I took x-rays, photos and impressions after my debonds. I was assigned to essix retainers (top + bottom*) My ortho recommended that I get linguals on my lower front teeth, so I will have to go back *after my teeth cleaning* to get ...
Last time I posted I had a tray that was splitting on me. I was able to make it to the end of the two week cycle without the split getting any worse. I am halfway through week 3. I am able to notice that the one tooth on the bottom has began to shift in the right place. My top teeth look the same to me, but I'm sure they too have shifted as well. From what I remember of my clinchek video most of the focus would be on my bottom bite at first. So here's to another week down
As predicted the braces did not come off today. I've been sporting silver wires wrapped around my bottom braces for the past few months to keep them in place while the uppers finished aligning. Well somewhere along the way I developped a teeny gap one tooth off from the center. Yep - right off center bottom row. Yes, I floss. No, I didn't realize that gap was there *rolls eyes* So my lowers are newly braced with clear ligaments (I forgot how hard it was to see those ...
Well its been another month so that means its time to visit my favorite ortho (no offense to yours). My appointment is at 12:30 so I'm killing some time on-line before heading over. They may come off today but I doubt it. They look and feel fine to me but my ortho is a lot pickier than me - I thought they were perfect a year ago LOL Also I get fitted for a retainer and receive it a couple of hours later the same day I'm debraced. The office closes at 4:30 or 5 so I ...
Hi guys, so 7th adjustment has provided me with new gold wire on the top set, nice and thick! New wire on the bottom set both short and causing a whole world of pain! My Ortho has given me elastics to be worn on one side only...the left side, the elastic is attached to my back bottom molar and my top canine, very odd sensation and I keep getting my tongue stuck! He said it was just to "pull things back a little"? I am a little confused. Why only one side? Am I lopsided in the jaw ...
