I recently had an infection (or what I thought) near the back of my mouth covering my wisdom tooth. I was in some pain so my aunt told me to go to an oral surgeon. I did so the next day. After the x-rays the doctor said that I had four impacted wisdom teeth and they would need to be removed. He also told me my bottom 2 were touching the nerves on my lower jaw, which he said he has never seen anything like that in his whole career. And it could potentially be dangerous and lead to some numbness. ...
No, I'm not leaving on a vacation... or taking a break from the BracesReview boards... I am bidding a fond adeiu and Aloha to a very special friend. She's been with me for a good 30+ years, and will be leaving this world a mere 25 hours from now. Please join me in bidding a fond farewell to my lonely unbracketed top-left first premolar: I shall miss her terribly. But I know she'll be going to ...
First official day of braces! On the 3rd hour and I have to say not really that bad. Everyone is saying you can't even tell when I talk. I ended up getting Damon Clear, so far only on the top. I haven't tried to eat yet (too scared) but I'm really craving a jamba juice! The only pain I feel is the back where it's kinda stabbing my cheek but I loaded it with wax so it feels okay.
So the retained life kind of sucks. I produce a lot of saliva when wearing it so its kind of like chewing gum all day - I'm constantly hungry. We're not talking "hrm maybe I'll get a snack" hunger - I'm talking about stomache rumbles 2 hours after feeling stuffed! Then I don't want to eat because it involves removing the retainer while I cook, then eat. After every meal I brush, sometimes floss and put the retainer back in. This is fine for full meals but when I'm debating ...
Within these first few months have I have had so many little changes in my teeth! Even though some of them are somewhat undesirable at this point im glad to see evidence of movement after all of that pain i went through and food i missed out on eating the first week The good change im seeing is that my front tooth is no longer on top of the tooth beside it, now they are opposite which matches the otherside now - Symmetry and crowding are the problems of my teeth, it was like my teeth ...

As much as I've gone on and on about it over the past week or two, I probably should've posted this pic on my last blog, but I only took it tonight. Here's a pic of my lovely molar band, and my LONELY spacers on the other side: (See the itty, bitty bite out of the back spacer? LOL!) Well, the time has finally come (this weekend) for my premolar extraction, and I must admit that I'm getting ...

Oops I suppose it's about time ... the bracket on the bottom left molar popped off. I had it replaced this morning and my ortho decided he would do a minor adjustment on the bottom. I now have a light strength elastic (kimodo dragon) from the top left 3 tooth to the bottom left 6 tooth day & night and a medium strength elastic from the top right 3 tooth to the bottom left 3 tooth night only. My next adjustment has now been changed to May 11. I can feel some pressure ...
So i go in to the ortho today, not aware that it is a differnt ortho (they do the whole 2-3 orthos per office thing), and I was dissapointed to note that they didnt change one thing! They just took the wire out, and put the exact same one back in!! Its been over 2 months now and no change?!?!?!? I dont know if its because of the ortho that saw me isint aware of my case, or if its to do with him being new (just recently became a ortho) and not knowing what to do with my case. Anyhow, im slightly ...
well i have another app tomorrow to go in for more moulds and hotos for a 2ns set of refinement trays little bit down really was hoping to be finished by now but oh well never mind!!! hope its not too many more trays.
So today I got 3 more attachments for a total of 12 attachments (7 upper/5 lower). The three new ones are on my upper front two teeth and right lateral incisor. To be honest, I'm not too crazy about them. For one thing, they're much larger than I had anticipated and to me, they catch the light in a way that makes my invisalign much less discrete. Having said that, they're probably still slightly less obvious than having ceramic braces without the wire and you still have to get pretty close to see ...
Hello, I was wondering if anybody knows if there is advantages from getting a sliding genioplasty done by OMS or a plastic surgeon..or does it even matter which one you choose?
My braces came off today and I don't like it! I know we waffled on wether they would come off for months but I wasn't prepared for it to happen today. My appointment was at 1:30 and took about half an hour. I had the ceramic upper and lowers as well as that cursed power chain and metal bands at the back. A few of the ceramic brackets cracked when the ortho was removing them. It wasn't painful, just a different kind of pressure and disconcerting. You never want to feel/hear ...
I'm beginning to think my teeth are worse off than I thought. I've had these damn spacers in since Day 1; they've been replaced once (after either breaking or popping off). Today was THE DAY I was finally going to get them off and get my wonderfully fun and oh-so-fashionable molar bands. Well, lo and behold... after many frustrating and rather painful attempts at putting a band on that left molar, we ended up with YES... MORE SPACERS!! The only good thing about those ...
