  1. Tray #2

    by , 02-28-2012 at 08:58 PM
So I switched to my second tray today after supper. I was nervous that it would hurt, but it actually wasn't that bad. Just a lot tighter than my first set was by the end. I haven't tried to take them out yet, not really looking forward to it. I was getting so good at popping out the other set, but don't think these will be as easy to start! Glad I'm not in pain though like I was for the first tray. The first 2 weeks flew by for me, hoping that continues!

  2. First adjustment down...

    by , 02-28-2012 at 11:48 AM
Hi all! I just wanted to update and document my first adjustment since having my braces put on on Jan 4th. I went to the ortho for my apt yesterday and was in there for less than 15 minutes.

The assistant called me back and sat me down in the chair. She took a brief look at my mouth and said, "Okay, looks like you are ready to start rubber bands today, we'll see what the Dr thinks." In my head I was extremely surprised to hear her say this. I was not anticipating rubber ...

I had regular metal braces in high school and during that time, 4 of my teeth were extracted. After wearing the braces for 2 years, I was given the retainers, which I didn't wear dillgently, since I went to college . Bad decision..Long

  4. 3 months on.... engaged!!

    by , 02-26-2012 at 02:54 PM
    G'day, all.
It's now been just over 3 months since i had my Damon braces put on, and things are going very well. As you might remember I had an overbite, and zig-zagging teeth which made me very self concious, but now the top row has straightened up nicely and the gap has started to close.
The bottom row still has a long way to go though. My ordontist has been waiting for the bottom canines to move a little bit more before he could engage the 2 teeth (sorry but don't know specific ...

  6. 2nd Adjustment

    by , 02-22-2012 at 12:03 PM
For my second adjustment, they wanted to put the wire through my canine, but it's still too far toward the middle, the wire would have had to go straight down to meet the next inscisor. So, this adjustment is soley focusing on shifting the canine to a "better position". Ugh, I have a feeling I'll be in braces for longer than 2 years already. I think he could have put a stronger chain attachment, this one is really thin, thinner than the ones he put on my bottom canines in the first adjustment. ...

  7. 11 Months Down

    by , 02-21-2012 at 11:38 PM
So hard to believe it's been eleven months already. Seems like I just got my braces on and now I'm almost a year down (ortho. said I'd have to wear them for at most 2 years). Well today's appointment went well as far as I can tell, though granted I don't have any training. Dr. H said my front teeth are coming along well and my left molar is almost where he wants it, my right molar on the other hand is extremely slow moving. Today he changed my top wire and across my front four teeth he had his assistant ...

Hello all, I just felt like blogging on this nice and sunny NJ day!

I am just finishing up week 6 of Invisalign...That's 3 months!! WOW! The time is starting to fly by. In the beginning it seems like the two weeks that I was in one set of aligners went by sooo sllllooow. I was dying to be able to change into a new set. Now, I'm like...."Time to change aligners already??" Wow! LOL

Onto other news, I'm still not seeing any major changes, but I ...

  9. Arrgh, one of my ligatures has come off!

    by , 02-18-2012 at 04:42 AM
Last night I went out for a meal and I think it must have been one of the small chicken pieces that I ate, because I could tell it was a bit hard, but I chewed it a couple of times and thought nothing of it. A few minutes later I could tell there was something not right. So I went to the toilet and one of my ligatures (which was a wire wrapped around the bracket on my lower left no. 5) had dissappeared and the wire was out of the bracket.

I was really annoyed with myself as I could ...

  10. show & tell: recent pictures.

    by , 02-16-2012 at 01:39 AM
Hi everyone. I'm finally getting some recent pix up. I had to get a new version of Photobucket. What a great program, I just got it tonight and bam the pix are up. I've recently been using Picasa and have had a tough time with it.

Here's one from the start of things to remind you what we're up against. Yikes. Scarier in person unfortunately. The start of me forever forgetting to put on lipstick before taking pictures.

  11. Day 2

    by , 02-14-2012 at 09:03 PM
Ok, so I made it through my first full day with my invisalign trays in. Last night I slept with the trays in for the first time. It was definitely not the greatest sleep ever. I woke up a lot and my teeth felt so funny. I have read in the forums how people say their teeth feel claustrophobic, I totally get that, that is the best way to describe how my teeth feel, especially when I have had my trays in for a few hours straight.
I woke up with a really gross mouth and couldn't wait to get ...

  12. Second adjustment

    by , 02-14-2012 at 04:42 PM
Had my second the other day and it went well. Still got two brackets on wires instead of ligatures, but they are getting closer so I think maybe next month they will both be on ligatures.

I can definitely notice the difference on the bottom set of teeth, but the top don't look any different to me. Do the top move slower or something?

I asked my dentist how long she thinks I've got (after two months I know lol) and she wouldn't commit to anything. She estimated 18-20 ...

  13. Day 1

    by , 02-13-2012 at 07:12 PM
I am 24 years old and finally on the road to the smile I have wanted for years. Now that I am done school and have a full time job, I can finally afford to fix my teeth. The orthodontist my dentist referred me too is really busy and it was about a year ago when I made my first appointment. After the initial consultation and deciding on Invisalign back in April, then getting impressions done in July, then getting the pictures taken so they could send them off to Invisalign to create my trays in October, ...

  14. Tray #17

by , 02-11-2012 at 04:33 PM (Boira wants a new smile)
Only 9 trays left for my upper arch!
There's still a lot of movement needed, but I can say things go according to plan and I'm pleased with the results so far. Well, except for the IPR issue. I'm still angry about that. My midline will never look vertical.

The lower arch has still 29 trays to go.

  15. 22 Months In... Final Countdown!!

    by , 02-10-2012 at 01:37 PM
    Aloha all!!

Wow, what a great appointment I had this morning! My ortho decided to be a “Chatty Cathy” (pun intended) today, and was cracking jokes right and left. Great day for questions! It's like he was in my head all this time, and answered all the questions I wanted to ask before I could even ask them. I honestly have nothing more to ask him about.

Good thing #1: He noticed that my upper central incisors overlapped (which I’ve noticed forever, but never had the
