  1. Ha ha! Under the knife again!

Gotta love it when you grab an appointment by ringing up on the day :)

I phoned my ortho yesterday morning asking if they'd had any cancellations because my surgeon comes over from his hospital to the ortho's one every month or so. I originally had an appointment in July, but thought "Hey I'm free today, I know it's the joint clinic, so why not phone up on the off-chance?" and thank goodness there was one, I hate being kept hanging around.

    She said "We ...

  4. >> Mind the Gap <<

In the UK we have a underground system in London (also known as the "Tube" or the "subway") that, although ancient in parts, is rather modern in operation. The one issue from time to time is that stepping off the trains onto the platform can be a bit tricky as there is often a substantial gap between the two. The platform announcer often tannoys "Mind the Gap" to warn passengers.

    I NEED that tannoy.

I knew teethy gaps would develop. "Lucky ...

  6. A week Till the teeth Go!!!!

    by , 06-26-2012 at 04:13 PM
    Hello,

I feel really lame for constantly talking about this... but It's exactly seven days until my back two teeth are removed for braces!

I am excited, and after talking to a few people in my school who have had teeth out and gotten advice off of here... I'm not exactly scared anymore... just anxious about the whole thing. I don't like needles or pain... but who does? :L I'll get over it and end up all the better for it with lovely straight teeth. also... I get a day ...

  8. Day 7

    by , 06-25-2012 at 09:54 AM
Really excited to get through this first week. Still adjusting to having bumpers and finding new ways to chew, but overall things are good. Fun to notice when my teeth shift, now I can get the tips of my left molars to touch! Only problem with some shifting is the wire on my right side is now in a spot where it gets caught on my cheek whenever I eat! Ouch! Hopefully a little wax and patience and things will shift again soon so it's out of the way!
  9. Upper jaw surgery?

    by , 06-25-2012 at 03:25 AM
Well it has been 5 days since I went to the orthodontist to get braces. However, once they checked my teeth they told me that I needed surgery to expand my upper jaw. Therefore, they placed the bottom braces and a palate expander. I've been doing research, but it's very confusing because there are people who say that the palatal expander alone would work fine on adults without out surgery, but there are those who say that surgery is needed. However, my ortho didn't give me enough reasons of why ...

  10. Invisalign - Tray 7

    by , 06-24-2012 at 02:31 PM
So another couple of weeks has passed by, and here I am, 5 days into my 7th set of aligners. I'm still very happy with my progress...

What can I update you on?...hmm...

Well, I 'survived' my first holiday while undergoing treatment. I was quite anxious about this, as I wasn't sure how I'd cope with having to floss/brush/rinse in toilet's in the airport/restaurants etc, but I did it (yay). I still maintained my high level of discipline and kept my aligners on every day ...
  11. New Update! 6 weeks in, new pictures !

by , 06-23-2012 at 07:10 PM (Damon Braces Journey)
Hey Hey ! So I've been '' spacing '' out my updates in order to show the most progress possible. I have been seeing a change in my smile lately so I decided to take new pictures this afternoon !

Everything is still going great, the only concern I have is occasional sharp pain in my top teeth whenever I eat/drink something cold. Have any of you experienced this as well ? I did expect my teeth to become more sensitive but ouch..

My first appt is two weeks away and I ...
  12. I had Teeth Envy..

    by , 06-22-2012 at 01:35 AM
Well. I got my first set of Invisalign aligners 3 days ago, and prior to this I had a relatively easy going attitude to it, I knew about the aligners, the duration of treatment (13 months), the refinements, the retainer, the constant brushing (I'm slightly ashamed to admit this but I'm not a very good brusher, my gums bleed and I hate it, I brush once a day and almost never floss), I was cool with it all.

So when the Ortho first put them on, he warned I would feel pressure and that's ...
  13. NEW Appt: Cleaning, XRays, New Elastics, Pics! Almost there! Month #11

    by , 06-21-2012 at 08:40 PM (BlondeAddiction's Braces Addiction:)
I'm stoked!!! SO much stuff has happened today at my appointment and I'm jumping for joy! I just got home and I had to hurry up and write this because there is so much to cover! I'll try to keep it as short as possible. Pfft, who am I kidding, this is ME you're talking about. LOL!

I arrived at my Ortho 10 mins early and they saw me right away. I saw my ortho for just a few mins before we got to start on my 3 month cleaning with my Hygienist. I mentioned I had a malfunctioning bracket ...

  14. Are You Kidding Me?!

    by , 06-21-2012 at 12:59 PM
I know, I posted yesterday but this is just ridiculous!

Today, I get home from school and a letter is waiting for me from the dentist informing me that my appointment to have my teeth removed has been cancelled and replaced on the 31st July .

A fine choice, with only one major drawback.

I get my braces on the day before.

    Are these people seriously stupid?

So, we rang up and informed the dentist that we have to have an appointment ...

  15. Got a deband "Month"... I think...

    by , 06-20-2012 at 01:32 PM
I’ve had a couple of visits since my last blog. Will try hard to make this a short post (LOL!)

    Here’s a recent pic:

On May 18th, I got my broken bracket replaced with no problems. I decided to sneak in “the question”… you know the one. I asked if I could get my braces off in July, and told me “Uh, that would be premature,” and “It doesn’t work like that.” He then proceeded to list all ...
