I saw the fill-in ortho this morning but he didn't do anything

He said with my overbite the teeth are bound to bump into the bottom bracket and that my upper teeth are more likely to break off the bottom bracket than chip. He didn't want to remove the bottom brackets since that would delay treatment and went over my before pictures to show me the bottom teeth have moved in the last two weeks (which I knew).

So basically he didn't want to do anything to interfere with the regular ortho's treatment.

I have my regular monthly visit scheduled with the ortho on April 15th so we'll see what he says then. Am I being overly paranoid about this bumping issue? I showed him that regardless of how I try to position my teeth the uppers and lowers just don't come together - even if I ignore the bumping. I can (obviously) eat around it so I don't know if I should just suck it up for a year or two since I doubt my overbite will just go away.

I guess its the feeling of the teeth bumping ceramic that drives me batty - its like having someone scratch a board in my mouth every time it happens. I don't know if this is normal and I'm being paranoid or if its a legitimate concern. If its normal I'll just deal with it for a couple of years but if its a legitimate concern what can I do?

In any case I can't do anything for another two weeks until RegOrtho returns. The fill-in guy was swamped today (I'd never seen people actually waiting in the ... waiting room before) so maybe that's why he didn't take my concern seriously? Ugh I get rambly when worried!

Anny discuss your concerns with your ortho when you see him for your first adjustment. He may feel that this isn't a problem either, but be clear about why it's bothering you.

It's good you can eat without problems. Also ask your ortho, how long before this 'bumping' will hopefully no longer be a concern.

    Good luck!

I definitely will. I was just hoping for a better resolution to yesterday's visit. I feel much better today

Sorry things didn't go as planned

I agree with Sunny. You can always express your concerns to your regular ortho next time. I'm sure something can be done.

    Keep your spirits up
