Sportin my new white Powerchains today!
*NEW 24 hour update with pics at bottom!!*
So today is *drumroll* my 9 month anniversary of my braces!! I also had my Orthodontic check up to celebrate the occasion. Heh. More great news and more great progress!
Had my appointment at 10:30 this morning, and I knew I was due for a new set of Powerchains since I had just gone 6 weeks without having them so I was prepared for that. I also was expecting that I'd have a new wire change on top because it seems that I've gotten a new one every time. Without me even bringing it to his attention he looked at my smile and decided he wanted my Canine's to be pulled up some. Like many Orthodontic cases, mine started out very high in my gums and looked fangy, so the main focus was to bring them down. However, for the last 7 months, I've felt that they were now TOO low... and fangy in a different way. He saw that too and joked that "vampires are TOTALLY in this year"! LOL. He then warned me that I'd hear an awful sound as he was going to pop off those brackets so I 'braced' myself. Gah That. Sound. Is. AWFUL! It literally sounds like your tooth shattered and your skull rattles. My palms started to sweat fearing that maybe he *had* broken something he shouldn't have. I freaked out for what seemed to be the longest 5 seconds of my life- until hubby (standing over me) says "Oh my gosh- naked teeth! They're so pretty!" *whew* They were still there. LOL! He then placed 2 brand new brackets on my 'fangs' and a new wire.
We've broadened my arch to his liking, and now we're working on the Incisors. He says my smile is very pretty, but that I still have too much overjet in the front and they're pushing my lips out a little further than he would like. So.. the new wire is going to now work on angling my front central Incisors BACK to counteract the flare. He reminded me that wearing my Class II Elastics was definitely going to be the biggest help in thisso to keep wearing them as much as possible.
Finally before we were done, he powerchained the top AND the bottom again. 10 teeth on top, 10 teeth on bottom. I chose White this time as opposed to the Silver I had at the beginning of the year. Man are they BRIGHT, and man do they ACHE. I think I kicked the chair every time the assistant wrapped a tooth. I had forgotten just how much discomfort they caused, but the feeling came back to me REAL quick LOL! I made Pork Chops for dinner, along with Green Bean Casserole and Garlic Biscuits, and couldn't eat hardly any of it. Even the Green Beans were too hard to bite into. Sigh.
Anyway.. I told you guys I would FINALLY ask when my estimated debanding would be... (I've chickened out asking ever since I asked in November of 2011) and his answer... "Less than 6 months, probably 4-5 but after your next appointment we'll know much better!" I was sooo happy to hear it! This puts me right on schedule and even though that may not be something to celebrate about, I'm classifying anything that doesn't set me back, a WIN!
On the happy side though, gaps are already nearly closed (in just 5hrs), and I swear my flaring is already reduced. My central Incisors hurt SO much right now, so it's definitely obvious they're on the move! :thumb:
Now, I promise to hush and... without further adieu, photos!

Next appointment: May 24th!
UPDATE:
Just woke up and with all my central incisor pain overnight I figured I would take a photo to see if I had any progress. HOLY LACK-OF-FLARED-TEETH, BATMAN! This wire did exactly what my Ortho said they would! I just had no idea it would happen so fast!! You can even see that my canine is already MUCH nicer too since putting a new bracket on! M A G I C
