Week 1

I have completed my first week in braces and have a great understanding for the intricate work of orthodontists and their dental assistants.
My extensive pain and top tooth banging on a bottom bracket resulted in a return to the orthodontist. He informed me that things are progressing normally. My pain is due to the number of rotated molars, deep bite and curved teeth. I was provided with photos of what I could expect for outcomes. I also learned my orthodontist will use the lazer to cut back my gums and lengthen my teeth at the end of my treatment. This will eliminate my gummy smile.
During this week I experienced a great deal of pain from the shifting of my teeth. Chewing was and remains problematic and the teeth seem to be moving in and out of position. However, this is all completely normal, according to my orthodontist. I can expect to remain in an uncomfortable state for another three to four weeks.
Some of my teeth are starting to straighten already, which is rather nice to witness. I am pleased to watch the progression of my teeth, despite the pain. I might add, the pain is lessened with each passing day.
I am still grateful for this opportunity and eager to see the end result.
