my mouth is killing me!!!!

I've had braces in the past but I had to get them taken off because I was getting stationed in Germany and they were going to take care of it over there....well I ended up getting my orders cancelled, so now I'm starting this process all over again! I just got my spacers in yesterday and my mouth is absolutely killing me, I don't ever remember being in so much pain . I've taken Tylenol rapid release extra strength since I've had them in every four hours and it's not working...someone please help!!!

    hi Brittany...

    Spacers are def the worst part of braces..... once you get past these few days the rest is cake.. i assure you...

    i believe the spacers are painful because they are moving the teeth so fast to make room for those bands to go over your molars...

    try ibuprophen (sp) maybe...

    It's posts like yours that make me happy that my ortho uses buccal molar brackets and therefore his patients don't need spacers.

    Good luck getting your brackets on and your treatment going really well!
