Yes at 10.30 this morning they came off, not without a fight! It was mighty painful getting the metal brackets off, the ceramic ones just shattered. The worst bit for me was the removal of the cement. I then had a good old clean and polish and got my retainers 20 mins later and that's it. I cant talk in my retainers yet and my teeth are still not feeling stable but really I look like a different person. Good luck to everyone and know that the end does ...
Hello all! I write this in absolute trepidation! I have my appointment with my Ortho this afternoon at 16.40 to discuss the removal date. I cannot believe the day is here and I keep thinking its a joke or someone will call and cancel the appointment. My stubborn tooth with much "root torque" has moved to a position where its waywardness is less obvious, its not 100% perfect as its worn a little at a funny angle but maybe filing can sort that. I am checking and double checking ...
Hi guys, so 7th adjustment has provided me with new gold wire on the top set, nice and thick! New wire on the bottom set both short and causing a whole world of pain! My Ortho has given me elastics to be worn on one side only...the left side, the elastic is attached to my back bottom molar and my top canine, very odd sensation and I keep getting my tongue stuck! He said it was just to "pull things back a little"? I am a little confused. Why only one side? Am I lopsided in the jaw ...
Just returned from my 6th adjustment, wire changed in the lower arch and a few bends and twists to alter height issues. Top set, new wire AND a clear power chain from the left back molar all the way around to the right pre-molar, you cant see it but it mean my mid line is being corrected and the gaps in my front teeth are being brought together. Then NEWS! Ortho said, we are nearly done...EARLY! Brace is coming off in May or June. I cannot believe it, I am so pleased ...
Hi all, thought I would update my progress a little. Left undecended fang canine is now all snug and in line with the rest of my teeth, and on the right where the premolar was removed the power chain has bought my right canine back so that all of my front teeth can be shifted right and centralised-I am still a bit "Tom Cruisey" at the moment with my mid line ! The teflon wire ties have rotated the teeth put out of balance by the wayward canine, so really its ...
Hi all. I had my 4th adjustment last night, feeling it this morning but ooo my things are looking good! I have my power chain back on to increase the gap required and-Sunny you may be able to help me with this-I have around 2 brackets these little white wires, the ortho twisted them like he does the ligs, what are these things and what do they do? Anyways things are ok, I queried my cleaning-good or bad? Good all round, although he suggested doing away with the manual toothbrush? ...
So yes, 6 months already, the wayward canine has now slotted in nicely. I am sure it has changed the way my face looks, or maybe its because my bite has changed? Either way a friend I havent seen since braces remarked that my face looked different. I am not getting as much pain as I used to-I miss it! Mainly as I knew things were moving. I guess they still are I am just not such a wimp now! I have thicker wires top and bottom, I have my 4th adjustment in 2 weeks, I hope for ...
Hello all! I am about 5 months in now and things are moving along well. My Back top right molar where the power chain is attached to the front top right molar has become very sensitive indeed. I only found out when I was swishing around some mouth wash and yeaaaaoooww! Is this common and is there anything I can do to reduce the sensitivity? I am still brushing, proxy brushing and flossing like a demon. Thanks in advance. x
Hi all! Well we have had some rather dramatic movement!...I will try and get some photos on here when I work out how to do it. Anyways one of my front 2 teeth leant to one side due to the pressue of the wayward canine and now its straight down-fab! Thing is its worn at a funny angle so the flat edge of the tooth is curved. My ortho said he could file it down so both teeth had the same edge, at the moment I keep catching the long end of the curve and biting my own lip etc etc. Will my ortho ...
Hi all, long time no um type?! My teeth are still very tender but thankfully not as bad, I am a month in now and boy oh boy has there been movement! Ulcer is all gone and mouth is toughening up nicely-never thought I would say that but hey! I have a query though...I am flossing but I dont know if I am doing it right. Because the wire is half way down the tooth I cant get the floss all the way down to the gum like I used to, I can only go half way down..or up.I am using a proxy brush to clean ...
So the gishy goo/braceze has been working, I have had to be a bit more imaginative about my eating habits, for instance I cant rely on sandwhiches for lunch as I cant bit into them! I am feeling slightly stronger although my clothes are still a bit baggy on the waist. My teeth, are still very tender to chew on I tried a strawberry just now and OW! Is this normal, I must say I didnt expect the soft food marathon to last this long...I am 3 weeks in and although the pain isnt as bad and my cheeks ...
Hi all. I have just tried a product called "Braceeze", its an alternative to wax and in my opinion sooo much better. It works in essentially the same way, however its clear and can stand up to eating better than wax. It is a clear silicone like substance that you squeeze from a tube, and apply with your finger, its smooth and easliy removed. I checked with my ortho and he said its fine to use with both ceramic and metal block brackets that are rubbing and causing soreness. ...
Well...after a horrid day yesterday and practically gagging at my 100th helping of mash potato last night I awoke at 3am sat in the kitchen and sobbed big fat hot tears for my poor sore mouth, my new ulcer...wax was applied religiously but well, who knows... and for my tender teeth. Enough was enough, straight on the phone to my Ortho this morning. I am to do the following... Take Zinc supplements, for bone re-growth and to treat Ulcer. Vit B complex for energy and Cell renewal. It seems ...
After my great success of eating out it would seem that my mouth is now rebelling! I am now back to very tender teeth and am having huge difficulty eating anything at all. I am a veggie and usually eat really well, lots of veg and fruit etc, however trying to eat anything like that is a nightmare, it gets stuck everywhere and my front teeth are so tender if they touch anything the pain is horrid. Also my bite is off so chewing anything is a near impossibility. I am 8 and a half stone, ...
Had a works meal today- pertified I would get all manner of food stuffs stuck where they shouldnt! I did ok, plenty of water to wash out the bits...yuk, I know-sorry! I chose something soft as my front teeth are sooo sensitive and my back right molars are doing the dull achy thing. So to all of you planning your 1st dining experience, it was ok, but go slow and choose something sensible I guess. Oh and nobody minds when you excuse yourself to brush, floss and wax up after the meal. PHEW! ...
