Had a works meal today- pertified I would get all manner of food stuffs stuck where they shouldnt! I did ok, plenty of water to wash out the bits...yuk, I know-sorry! I chose something soft as my front teeth are sooo sensitive and my back right molars are doing the dull achy thing. So to all of you planning your 1st dining experience, it was ok, but go slow and choose something sensible I guess. Oh and nobody minds when you excuse yourself to brush, floss and wax up after the meal. PHEW! XXX

I had my first work meal with braces last Wednesday and I was pretty nervous. I ordered a chicken dish and no one even noticed that I was eating any difference.I cut the pieces into very small bites and drank a lot of water and it worked out beautifully. When I'm out eating with my husband, he barely notices a difference in my eating habits at restaurants too. Doesn't take long to develop an attack plan!

Great that you're working out how easy it is to eat in public. Having water to gently swirl around the mouth, is always my first priority.

When my husband was alive, we had to attend many official dinners ... and the food was too yummie not to enjoy, so I quickly adjusted!

This week I've been staying with my kids in Sydney and last night dined at Darling Harbour before we did a Ghost Tour at the Quarantine Centre ... and I thoroughly enjoyed a salad. I never thought I'd enjoy a salad, but with practise it's as great as any other food!

Good luck with eating anywhere, anytime!

It took me a month to adjust to eating, and even now when my bite is in a funny place (as it seems to shift all the time) I am doing okay. I never ever bite into anything while eating around other people---why risk it!!?? LOL I cut into small pieces and chew way back on my molars, to cut down the risk of getting stuff stuff. I never have soup while I am out...the worst way to get everything stuck in your braces!. I thought I would never get used to it, and although I enjoy eating far less than I did...(I can't help it, hate having to brush and get it all out of my braces...so I am far less inclined to eat when I don't have to)---which is maybe why I am 9 pounds lighter than I was 4 months ago!! LOL!
