Hi all. I had my 4th adjustment last night, feeling it this morning but ooo my things are looking good!
I have my power chain back on to increase the gap required and-Sunny you may be able to help me with this-I have around 2 brackets these little white wires, the ortho twisted them like he does the ligs, what are these things and what do they do?
Anyways things are ok, I queried my cleaning-good or bad? Good all round, although he suggested doing away with the manual toothbrush? I wonder if there is any merit in this?
Oh and great news for those fellow fang owners!! now that my front teeth are all level my ortho filed down all my teeth so they are perfect and in line-no pointy fangs-yay!!!!

    Great you're doing so well!

I use a manual toothbrush at all times other than night ... and it serves me well!

Sounds like you've got some teflon coated wire ties around a couple of brackets ... instead of ligs. We offer them to all our clients who have ceramic brackets, as they don't stain, but we find many of our patients still prefer to wear 'colours', although some do come in for teflon coated wire ties for special occasions.

Ortho's often use wire ties to put pressure on the archwire in a particular way. This is where the wings on the brackets are very handy. When my ortho was working to rotate a teeth a little bit, to help it get into alignment, a wire tie putting more pressure on the archwire on one side of the bracket did the job.

    Good luck with your progress!

Thanks Sunny. The teflon wire tie make sense as the teeth they are on require rotating. They really work!! I am sure I can see a change already.
I will persevere with the manual brush but perhaps treat myself to an electric one for the evening brushing.
Thanks for your help there Sunny. xx

Sounds like you are doing great Bunny! Isn't it neat when you can start to see that your smile is going to be just how you always wanted it to be?! I have the dreaded fangs too, my canines were always up higher but now that they are in place with the rest of my teeth, the fangi-ness is not quite as evident as it used to be..it looks way more normal. I am not opposed to them filing them a little at the end but for now I am so delighted that they look like all the others! I have adjustment # 6 tomorrow! Hooray!! I had those horrible canker sores 3 weeks after my last adjustment when they took my power chain of to bring up my front tooth (it was lower than the other one)...those went away finally and I am ready to start some more fun stuff. I have only been wearing my elastics at night..I didn't have to wear them at all for the past 6 weeks but I couldn't stand to lose any of improvement in my bite..so I put them in each night after I brushed and it has helped maintain it. I should go back to full time elastics tomorrow (yay--okay, yes I am weird!) --I love wearing my elastics...my bite has improved soooo much! They may shave a little off the sides of my teeth tomorrow--that sounds pretty yuk but we'll see! Will keep you posted after I get back!!!!
Hope your discomfort has gotten better by now...bitter sweet isn't it...painful but reminds you that you are doing some serious progress!!!!!!!!

Oooo! Candy how wonderful. The fangs have descended! It looks sooo much better when they are side by side with the other teeth. I think my ortho will do a final file at the end, maybe the same will happen with you, just to make your smile sooooper dooper!
Good luck with the shaving, it sounds like its all coming together nicely. I hope the elastics are continuing to do their job. Much love and let me know how you got on! xxxx
