7th Adjustment...welcome to elastics!

Hi guys, so 7th adjustment has provided me with new gold wire on the top set, nice and thick! New wire on the bottom set both short and causing a whole world of pain!
My Ortho has given me elastics to be worn on one side only...the left side, the elastic is attached to my back bottom molar and my top canine, very odd sensation and I keep getting my tongue stuck! He said it was just to "pull things back a little"? I am a little confused. Why only one side? Am I lopsided in the jaw department or is it to move my canine?? Any help appreciated. I would of asked him but he had the flu and I was keen to get out of there!
Oh and he says next adjustment in 7 weeks time we can fingers crossed book a date for removal of the evil braces. Hurrah!!

    Great you've got more changes ahead!

    The elastics move teeth ... not your jaw. Maybe your teeth on that side need to come round a little more!

    Good luck with seeing progress!

    Ahh I see, a bit like power chains?? Yes the canine needs to come back a little. Thank you.xx

    Definitely ... although powerchains are more for closing gaps and moving teeth as a group.

    As adults our jaws can't be moved or changed without surgery, so everything our ortho's do, is within the realms of our existing jaw line.

    Here's to your teeth moving as necessary so you can have your braces removed asap!

    Go into my blog and check out my pictures...you won't believe the elastics that my ortho put me in this last time I went in. Not only do I have one along my right side from my molar to my canine...but I also have one going right straight across the front of my mouth, from the left top to the right bottom. It's probably the single most annoying thing I've had in this whole braces journey. Everyone at work makes fun of me, but I don't care. I wear it all day every day because I want these things OFF. haha. Welcome to elastics!
