Hi all.

I have just tried a product called "Braceeze", its an alternative to wax and in my opinion sooo much better. It works in essentially the same way, however its clear and can stand up to eating better than wax. It is a clear silicone like substance that you squeeze from a tube, and apply with your finger, its smooth and easliy removed. I checked with my ortho and he said its fine to use with both ceramic and metal block brackets that are rubbing and causing soreness. I hope someone may find it useful. Its available on-line or from your Ortho-which is where I found mine!

Great you've found a product that's going to help your mouth toughen without getting sore!

Sounds like it's pretty similar to Gishy Goo, which is what my ortho gave me. His wife saw it at a trade show once, and insisted that he try it. They've been giving it to adult patients ever since and it is an absolute miracle. Best thing ever.

    Why just adult patients?

You aren't supposed to ingest a lot of it, so i think the company as a rule suggests that only adult patients use it, as they tend to be more responsible when it comes to that sort of thing. Same reason they give kids bonded retainers...my ortho told me they usually give it to kids because they can't be trusted to always wear their retainers. They mentioned giving one to me and I told them I wasn't sure if I wanted one. I can definitely be trusted to wear my retainer, and I have a lot of friends who have a bonded one on the bottom who say it's absolutely horrid, they get food stuck in it all the time and it's hard to keep clean. Not going to worry about it right now, I'll just talk to them about my best option at my debanding (can you hear the angels sing when that word is mentioned? haha)
