  1. 1 year 3 weeks

    by , 04-03-2012 at 09:01 PM
    Or 12 months, 3 weeks.

However you want to look at it. Seems strange to have made it so long, haha. Well went to the ortho. today for my usual six week appointment. Dr. H checked my mid-line and said it was just a tad off so he's going to focus on fixing that. He decided on a chain stretching across my bottom teeth (except for my molars of course) to start pulling them into the correct place.

He then tightened my arch wires and did this odd figure 8 thing with bendable ...

  2. 11 Months Down

    by , 02-21-2012 at 11:38 PM
So hard to believe it's been eleven months already. Seems like I just got my braces on and now I'm almost a year down (ortho. said I'd have to wear them for at most 2 years). Well today's appointment went well as far as I can tell, though granted I don't have any training. Dr. H said my front teeth are coming along well and my left molar is almost where he wants it, my right molar on the other hand is extremely slow moving. Today he changed my top wire and across my front four teeth he had his assistant ...

  3. 2 hour drive and one sore mouth later...

    by , 11-29-2011 at 12:22 AM
So I've recently moved, as you can guess from the title, 2 hours away. I am exhausted as it's been an non-stop day and I'm just now getting the energy to tell everyone that yes I'm back from my "weekend away" I guess you could call it, though it full everyday, and about how my time was spent (Here's a hint, Black Friday though Cyber Monday + Christmas Shopping + My Family = headache). I'll only tell you about my ortho. appointment, though, as that's probably all you care about anyway. ...

  4. Update

    by , 09-14-2011 at 05:15 PM
Well just went got back from another app. Top and bottom wire were changed and a chain was added across the front four teeth. Mouth feels a bit tight but it doesn't hurt per say. My back molars are still leaning inward but not as bad as they were. According to the ortho. everything is progressing well enough that he was able to skip a step (hence the chain). Good to know the flossing, brushing, rinsing, and careful eating are working. The chain will take a little getting used to, cause it kinda ...

  5. Day something...something

    by , 04-27-2011 at 11:42 PM
Soo...as you all can see I have posted anything lately. Not cause I didn't want to but because things have been so hectic. First there was the moving to a new apartment, switching my cable (and internet) company (they took forever to get out here and hook the stuff up), and then the whole Grandmother thing. My life's just been crazy. But you people came here for teeth update so that's what I'll give you.

I got my top wire changed and the bottom one tightened. Also I am having no ...

  6. Sooo... Here We Are

    by , 04-02-2011 at 07:47 PM
Day 19 (that's so hard to believe) braces are doing fine but I got a spacer back in. Ortho didn't really tell me why but I guess he's thinking if he puts more space between my molar and other teeth the band won't hurt but I don't get that seeing as how last time it was the tooth with the band that hurt, not the surrounding teeth. But hey, he's the guy that went through school to be able to make these decisions so I'm going to trust him. With my life...nah...not really...mostly just with my teeth. ...

  7. Sweet Sixteen

    by , 03-30-2011 at 02:26 AM
"...Gonna spread my wings. Sweet Sixteen..."

Okay now that that song is out of my head, I ate a whole bratwurst on a bun today (similar to how you eat a hot dog) with no problems. Woo! I was so happy I treated myself to two strawberry shortcakes (so good - especially with fresh strawberries). I had to floss and brush extra well afterwords, but is was so worth it. lol My floss decided to be nice today and decided not to get hung on one of my brackets like it usually does. ...

  8. Days Six through Thirteen

    by , 03-27-2011 at 07:25 PM
So I haven't posted much because I've been a bit busy. Had to have the top wire clipped at one app. only to go back that Monday (the last app. was on a Friday and my ortho. isn't in on weekends) because the assistant forgot to put the wire back in place before sticking the band back on the bracket. So for the entire weekend my wire was loose, at least it's fixed now though. Got another app. sometime this week I think it's on the 31st but I don't feel like pulling my phone off the charger and opening ...

  9. Day Five

    by , 03-19-2011 at 11:51 PM
Guess what people? Today I've barely had any pain, woo!! I was even able to eat microwavable pizza rolls!! I'm even chewing better today! My mouth still hasn't realized that my braces aren't food particles sticking to my teeth so my mouth is still a little more wet then usual but that's okay, I hardly notice since I'm pretty much so getting used to it. I keep wax on a couple teeth, one because as I previously stated a color band-thingy apparently popped off and two, one of my bottom teeth shifted ...

  10. Day Four

    by , 03-18-2011 at 10:08 PM
So I'm trying to get an appointment for Monday at my ortho to fix the color thing-a-ma-jig. Guess what people? I'm eating strawberries now! Without aid of a Motrin. Something I couldn't have done even yesterday. I'm still chewing a little more hesitant then I used to but I think I'm getting the hang of braces. Though every time I see mother she keeps demanding to see my braces. She had some when she was young and is always excited to see how mine differ from hers - size for example and the fact ...

  11. So far....

    by , 03-18-2011 at 07:57 PM
    Day one:

Ow!!!! Is all I have to say. lol

I just got my braces on today and they weren't hurting until I ate. Even then they weren't hurting as much as they are now, thanks in large part to my accidentally biting down on part of my top braces with my bottom teeth. That did not feel good. I go back in six weeks and when I do I need to ask if it's normal for one of my teeth, one with a molar bands to hurt so bad. My tongue can't even touch it without a sharp shooting pain. ...
