Hi everyone...just an update. I went to my ortho on Monday and had a productive visit. As I expected he started me on rubber bands. Those little beasts are quite painful! I have had a difficult few days! I am glad to have them as I hear they can work wonders with bite issues. Today is not so bad and I am doing a little better. I have to wear them 24 hours a day unless brushing/eating. I have been leaving them in while eating and only taking them out to brush and floss though, and then I put them right back in. I have been changing them about 4-5 times a day..staying on top of them big time! I am wearing them going from bottom molar to upper canine...medium stregnth.
They did the figure 8 lig loops around all four front upper teeth now...closing a gap that had opened on one side next to my front tooth. Everything is actually looking really good, I think the bands are helping already..I can already tell again that my bite has changed in these 3 days.
I go back in 6 weeks this time instead of 8 weeks. (Yay) and will be getting an xray of my bite to see where we are at. He brought up the chance of extracting teeth, but I told him I really don't want to go that route with my face already being pretty thin. He thinks the bands will work and will leave me with a slight overjet which he says will be perfectly normal. Anything is better than what it was doing...pulling the canines down was pushing all my uppers out and I hated that.
No refining this time, as was the plan...so this visit was just adding the bands, new ligs in the figure 8 fashion and some chatting.
Next time, I get another wire and the xray. I wonder how much difference the elastics will make in 6 weeks? A lot I hope!!
Hurt more to eat than usual...have gone back to softer food for a few days. I had a McDonalds Strawberry milkshake for lunch yesterday--it was wonderful!!!!
Will try to put up pics soon!

Sounds like you're doing a great job with your elastics Candy!

I had a chair appointment yesterday and got new elastics ... they're tiny 1/8" and called Gray Bear. They're a challenge to put on, due to them being so small, but like you I'm hoping for some major changes in the next six weeks. I've rarely had appointments closer than 10 weeks, so having one after six weeks is going to feel really different. Here's hoping we both find our bites have achieved heaps!

Thanks!! This is day 4 of them and I am doing much better...and I am actually enjoying having them...I know that sounds crazy, but I love that I am to the point where I can have them...know what I mean? Time is going by pretty fast and I can't believe it has almost been 6 months for me now!
Wow--those sound like some small elastics! EEK! Mine have dolphins on them...I guess it makes it easy to remember which ones you have! How does your head feel with those? Owch! Mine are not too bad, although I have pinged several across the bathroom while I am getting used to putting them on!
