Hi guys, just a quick note to say I had my procedures done today...for anyone considering it, go for it....I added pics to my album so you can see. It took about an hour, they rubbed a topical analgesic to my upper gum, and waited about 5 minutes...they put 2 shots in each side of my gum (I only felt one and that was for a brief second) She cut away the gum, and used that cauterizing thing (the yuk part) and also performed a frenectomy under my upper lip as she was concerned it was too low and may pull up on my gum over time. She cut that, no stitches---looking at the hole in my mouth was probably the yukkiest part.
They gave me ibuprofin 800mg at the office, I took that right after at 1pm and a Lortab at 6pm..and I have been in no pain yet. I am prepared to take another at midnight and back to ibuprofin in the AM...I have to work...and I can't work and "float" at the same time! hahaha
Looks pretty yuk right now, bloody edges, and gross up top but I should be back to normal in no time--and no more gummy smile, my teeth make more sense to me now...my incisors always appeared small...but here they are, all nice and tall--they were hiding all along!
I haven't put a retainer pic up yet..forgot to take one..and now my gums are bloody, I don't want to take a pic now as the retainer doesn't look as discreet : )
take care!

Hi guys, well...my journey has finally come to an end. My braces were taken off today : ) I had a great day, took the whole day off, got my hair done, got the braces off, bought some make up, new outfits...I have been waiting for this day and I treated myself a little!
I add a couple of pics to an album, my before pics are dotted throughout my blog..I would add them to the album, but I am a little tired, even though I cant sleep--excited about work tomorrow....I got a ton of compliments today from the people I did see today..and it almost overwhelming to hear. I have waited so long for this, and its finally here!
The process of them coming off took about an hour...the brackets popped right off, even the porcelin...although yuk to feel it. The absolute worst part was the glue coming off using the awful tool they have. I felt like my brain was being jackhammered!!! I held it together though, and just thought to myself with each tooth, okay...that one's down...this many to go. So worth it, my teeth felt amazing, they felt big as I was warned, but more smooth than slimey.
They did my impressions for my retainer, which will be ready in a week...so I have a little freedom til then. I am still having the small bit of gum surgery in 2 weeks, to even out my gum line. It's purely cosmetic, but I can see where its not even and I didn't come this far for me to keep zooming in on it.
I see my dentist next week, just for my impressions for my whitening treatment...although I am pleasantly surprised that they weren't too bad. My ortho sid that usually adult teeth can be pretty dingy at the end, but mine faired well...must be all the straws I used and all the fanatical brushing.
They put a permenant retainer along the bottom 4 teeth, feels a bit wierd, like I have an excess of tarter, but its the wire...
anyway, that's it--I am happy as can be, the only thing missing is my deployed hubby who can only see via skype or pics : (
My kids have helped though, they were so excited to see them come off today. I must have heard "momma, you are sooo pretty" a dozen times hahaha, sweet little ones : )

Hi everyone, I went my "who knows what" number appointment...maybe 13th? and they did my xrays--everything looks great, all the roots are lined up...

Hi everyone, I went my "who knows what" number appointment...maybe 13th? and they did my xrays--everything looks great, all the roots are lined up and straight...they took off my power chain, top and bottom, and just did regular ligs after he made a slight bend to both wires. I am returning in 3 weeks to check/fix for any gaps that may open up with losing the power chain (sniff, miss it already..they are achey right now) and then a week after that----these babies are coming OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so, 4 weeks--I am on the countdown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are coming off at 20 months, my sentence was originally 24 months so I am a few months early...he says mostly to my rubber band compliance (wear those bands!!!)
I am having a hard time even imagining not having these braces on my teeth anymore....when I got them on Jan 5th, 2009...it felt like a life sentence..even though I knew time would go by....and it did...it flew by!!
I can't wait for my hub's deployment to end in Nov, see him walk of that plane, and (after my kids move off their daddy's legs) SMILE and give him a HUGE smackeroo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clapping:

Hi everyone, went for my adjustment today...and great news...looks like I will be released 3 months early for good behavior!! LOL ((((DANCING))))...

Hi everyone, went for my adjustment today...and great news...looks like I will be released 3 months early for good behavior!! LOL ((((DANCING))))
Todays visit was good, changed the wires, new power chains...back to bigger elastics in a large triangle shape on both canines to molars, just to hold in my bite...only have to wear them overnight though. He said next visit they will do xrays, and to expect them off the following visit. He said to schedule 4-6 weeks out, and so I asked the receptionist to put me at 4 weeks...rather than 6, so she did, and my next appt is Aug 9th : )
He grinded a little bit of my front uppers, and will continue tweeking until we're done. I will be having a gingivectomy done at a later time to even out my gum line, and make everything perfect (well, perfect to ME!)
It's awesome, can't wait...my hubby deploys next week and returns in November....I plan on giving him the biggest smackeroonie on the lips ever!!!! hahahah
will post pics soon!
thanks--take care everyone

Hi guys! Just a little update...I went back to the ortho today. Changed out my upper power chain and all that regular stuff. I am having an issue...

Hi guys! Just a little update...I went back to the ortho today. Changed out my upper power chain and all that regular stuff. I am having an issue with a back molar on my left side. It appears to be moving "up" too far. I noticed I couldn't floss without causing my gum to bleed and there didn't seem to be much room to take the floss up inbetween and always made it bleed. He said that usually he doesn't bracket back molars on adults but he wants to bracket upper and lower back molar on the left side to straighten out this issue. I'm sure it's causing food to trap and that's why I'm bleeding. I am not looking forward to that, the tech said i'll be pretty sore because those last molars are tough ones to budge. That's set for next visit in 6 weeks. The other change is that my bite is looking wonderful, he is very pleased because he said he rarely sees movement/improvement to a bite like that in adults without taking out a tooth! That makes me happy :) I am still wearing a rubber band 24/7 on my left side, upper canine to 2nd to last molar and I only have to do the triangle configuration at night on my right side! :clapping:
Thank goodness!!! I hated the triangle shape!!!
So...all is well...these new teeth are coming together well! I am not letting myself think about getting them off yet---am just too worried it won't be ready...and if so...will be fine...I want them on as long as it takes to get this done right! (can't help but feel a glimmer of excitement though...after 14 months of an 18 months sentence....:) )

sorry some are so big, I am losing patience with my pics...big changes in this one year...so happy I have some time under my belt now....estimated time is 18 months, but we'll see. That would put me out of them in July..who knows! Canines are down, teeth are generally straight, but need some filing and all that..I am going in tomorrow for adjustment...thicker wires and some IPR in between teeth to bring them back some more.

My braces have been on since Jan 5th, 2009:
