  1. Second Adjustment!

by , Yesterday at 05:17 AM
Today I had my second adjustment! I got two new wires, top and bottom, nice and thick lol, well from the first one on the top anyway. I think the orthodontist said they were both 0.6 but i have no idea, i really should listen when he is talking to his assistant instead of thinking "PLEASE DONT PULL MY TEETH OUT!" lol.

I got Lilac ligs, in person, they dont look much different to the baby pink ones :( but in pics, they come up really nice.

    Here are some progress ...
  2. Tray 17

by , 06-12-2013 at 10:47 PM (Take Two: My Second Go at a Straighter Smile)
I know I just updated with a video yesterday, but now that I've got acquainted with Tray 17, I wanted to share a quick post (as promised!).

I put in the new trays last night. Uneventful, really. Not the easiest trays to put on but not the hardest. But I will say the chewies have been a worthy investment. Before, I'd use my fingers and thumbs to make sure the trays settled down. Now I just use the chewies. And if I'm home, I chew on it after putting the trays back on. It's a ...

  3. Tray 25(:

    by , 06-10-2013 at 11:09 PM
Can't believe I am already on tray 25. Wow time really does fly. In two weeks I go in for a few more attachments (on my front teeth, etc) and get five more trays. Only ten more to go! This is crazy. I couldn't be happier. I know I'll need refinements but the progress I've seen already is more than enough to be grateful for. Can't wait to see what they look like after the last set, never mind after refinements.

  4. Tray 16!

by , 05-29-2013 at 11:17 AM (Take Two: My Second Go at a Straighter Smile)
Well, last night I changed trays. I got my chewies in the mail after getting home from out of town yesterday, so I was able to try that for the first time after changing the trays. It definitely was easier than trying to push up/down on the trays with my fingers. I tried the chewie again this morning as my teeth are definitely sore (mainly in the front) but it was hard to do it in the front since they hurt! I'm hoping it's getting the blood flowing and it ultimately helps :)

  5. Tad

    by , 05-16-2013 at 03:52 PM
I'm 2 months shy of having my braces for a year! Today I had 2 TADs placed on the top. Getting them placed was painless but now that I'm home they're definitely sore! Treated myself to orange Julius for lunch hoping the pain only lasts a day ish!

  6. Tray 15

by , 05-14-2013 at 10:13 PM (Take Two: My Second Go at a Straighter Smile)
Tray 15 is here! And off to a, well, slightly painful start. I'm used to there being pressure when I change trays, but not actual pain right away. My top crooked tooth hurt a bit when I put the tray on. My bottom tray went on without much effort compared to some other previous trays, but it doesn't look like it fits right. But, my teeth have to actually move to fit in them, so I'm not worrying about it for the time being. The problem is if there is a problem - I am flying out of town Thursday ...

  7. First Adjustment!

    by , 05-14-2013 at 05:05 AM
Yep! Already 5 weeks down! lol. It seems to have gone slow though and I had been waiting for my first adjustment for what seemed forever! lol

It wasn't really painful, more just pressure when the ortho was taking the ligs off the teeth and also putting them back on. Its like he knew which tooth would cause me pain as when I made a "arghh" and he would go "yes i thought so!" lol.

I got a new thicker wire on the bottom, but kept the same wire on top, ...
  8. Tray 14

by , 05-01-2013 at 10:19 PM (Take Two: My Second Go at a Straighter Smile)
Had my orthodontist checkup yesterday afternoon. The longest part was waiting for the ortho to come check my teeth (he's always busy!) but I was able to catch up with the assistant, who is super nice. She said she noticed my smile has improved a lot, and it was then I realized I've had Invisalign for 6 months - half a year!! She showed me my Clincheck from different angles, starting at the beginning and going to now (well, end of Tray 13), and showing what my next three trays should do.

  9. Tray 11

by , 03-20-2013 at 01:30 PM (Take Two: My Second Go at a Straighter Smile)
Man, everyone seems to be changing trays around the same time and making updates! I'll have to check it all out later.

Went to the ortho yesterday. Took maybe five minutes? The assistant played my Clincheck from the beginning to now, and then showed me my next three trays so I could see which teeth would be moving. Pretty cool! Looks like my front top teeth will move forward a bit, I guess to prepare for when that one crooked tooth will come down.

    The assistant ...

  10. Adjusting

    by , 03-18-2013 at 12:48 PM
It has been a week now and my mouth feels a lot better. I know I should not get use to it since I have new trays coming on March 25th. But I am going to enjoy it none the less. How everyone doing? How is your process going?

  11. Tray Ten!!!!

by , 03-05-2013 at 10:15 PM (Take Two: My Second Go at a Straighter Smile)
Wow... I can't believe I'm already in the double digits. I can now say I'm halfway done (with the initial phase) with my bottom trays!!!! And probably around 1/4th for the tops.

Tray 9 wasn't too bad. I just popped in Tray 10 a little while ago. The bottoms were pretty hard to get on and a little painful in the front, but I got them on. That one "problem attachment" is still causing the tray not to sit flatly on that tooth, but it doesn't look any worse than the last ...

  12. Tray 9 Is In!

by , 02-19-2013 at 10:46 PM (Take Two: My Second Go at a Straighter Smile)
Wow, almost done with the single digits. Hard to believe!

Tray 8, as you saw in my last entry, had its issues. Tray 9 went in okay (not as easy as 8, but not as difficult as the beginning trays either). I did notice that the one "new" attachment is causing a gap still, and looks like it still doesn't fit over the whole tooth like the other parts of the tray, but whatever. I am done worrying and fretting over it. I guess worst case scenario is that my bottom teeth aren't ...

  13. Update - Nervous About Progress

    by , 01-31-2013 at 08:01 PM
Well, I am 19 months in. If everything goes according to schedule, I should have my braces removed in June. I have inserted pictures from my first week, a few months in, and now. There has definitely been a big difference. I was just told that I could stop wearing my elastics, but I may need them again. The one thing I'm worried about is my deep bite. I have seen no difference over these past 19 months. My overjet has reduced significantly but not my overbite. I'm wondering whether it can be fixed ...
  14. Lucky Number 7

by , 01-23-2013 at 08:54 PM (Take Two: My Second Go at a Straighter Smile)
The number is supposed to be lucky, right? Well, I wouldn't say that, necessarily, when it comes to Invisalign ;)

Last night I changed trays. As I stated in a forum comment, the bottom was a little more difficult to put on than Tray 6, but not any more difficult than, say, Tray 2 (when I was still a newbie at this whole thing!).

I skipped lunch today just to prolong the amount of time for my teeth to get acquainted with the trays, before eating dinner after I got ...

  15. The Start of Eleastics

    by , 01-20-2013 at 12:41 AM (Braces at 42)
IMG_6937[1].jpgBack for a visit in January to remove the colourful Christmas bracket elastics and decided on navy blue. Got both top and bottom wires replaced and after a quick check from the Ortho, he suggested starting with elastics.

The elastics go from my top canines to my bottom rear molars. I have to wear them all the time with the exception of eating and brushing of course.

I'm pretty impressed with the movement so far and things were only uncomfortable ...
