Entries related to adjustments to your braces.
Hey everyone. I haven't posted in a little while because all has been well with my braces. I've been eating any and everything. I had steak for dinner last night. all of that will probably change tomorrow. I have my 1st adjustment tomorrow at 5:30pm and I'm so excited. I'm very familiar with the ritual from reading posts so I will take medicine an hour before I go and I'm prepared to eat soft foods all over again. I'm a pasta person so I won't mind at all. I just hope that it won't ...
My next adjustment is a week from today and I'm excited. I'll go in that morning and have my wires taken out. Then I'll go to the dentist and get my teeth cleaned. After that, I'll go back to the ortho and get my missing bracket put on and wires put back in. I'm having a little bit of pain with my bands rubbing bad sores on my tongue so I'm planning on asking to have the 3 bad ones fixed. I called them this morning so they know about it. They said that if my tongue gets cut and starts bleeding, ...
Yesterday, July 29 2010 was my fourth adjusmtent. I was looking forward to my appointment 'cause I wanted to see what part of my treatment came next. I was expecting rubber bands at this appointment because after reading so many blogs and posts it seemed as if this was the time to get them, but I didn't. I had a powerchain on my lower six fron teeth and it was taken off at this appointment. My ortho checked my x-rays from my prior visit and said my roots looked healthy. It's always good to know ...
Hi Everyone! I haven't posted anything in a while, but it seems as though everything is going well. I have my first adjustment next week (8 week appt) and I am getting nervous. On one hand, time has gone by very quickly and I can't believe it's almost been 2 months since I got my braces. On the other hand, I am dreading the pain I felt for the first week and the inability to eat real food. At least I have a frame of reference this time, and know that it will not last forever I ...
I had my appointment with my ortho for the first time since I got my first set of powerchains. Yes I asked at least 16 questions to the assistant and to my ortho. First question I asked was that I was noticing that my front gap isn't doing ANY movement which was pretty disheartening since the rest of my teeth have seen some improvement. She assured me that since I have a tooth on my upper right side that was rotated 90 degrees in the wrong direction that we have to turn it the right ...
missed my june appointment but to be honest ave grown a little scared. each time i get an adjustment or colours changed i feel terrible straight after, really low ebb feeling and i am in bed for 3 weeks with low level noise or i can be really hard to live with . not sure if the movement is causing my ears to be alot sensitive to sound now but its improving on a steady base. i can now tolerate alot more noise. am still waking up with clenched teeth at times but its more so if ive had things on my ...
YAY I never thought I would ever see the double digit month appear but it is almost upon me and I am just as pleased as punch then my orhto looks at me and says well now we are going to put powerchains on all of your teeth because it is time to close some of those spaces and gaps you have. GREAT I say until after the assistant puts them on (in a really cute color of course) and then the pain kicks in... and I mean some SERIOUS pain. I had to take out the heavy duty pain killers and still ...

Hi, I have a serious overbite and have to have surgery for it... I was wondering if anyone has had overbite surgery and whether anyone could tell me what happens during the surgery? And whether the surgery was worth it. I'm fifteen and quite nervous about it. It will be the first time I've ever had surgery. I'd just like some reassurance.
[QUOTE=Kristin.braceface;17984]I've had my bottom center teeth, in between the teeth, filed like three times. I'm afraid in my next visit he'll file more. He uses something that looks like a floppy nailfile. I'm nervous that maybe the brackets are positioned too low so they aren't moving. This is the 2nd time I've had braces, the first time filing wasn't needed. Would it be crazy if I request him to file no more!! Or that mybe moving the brakets would be a better option. I mean I ...
Within these first few months have I have had so many little changes in my teeth! Even though some of them are somewhat undesirable at this point im glad to see evidence of movement after all of that pain i went through and food i missed out on eating the first week The good change im seeing is that my front tooth is no longer on top of the tooth beside it, now they are opposite which matches the otherside now - Symmetry and crowding are the problems of my teeth, it was like my teeth ...

As predicted the braces did not come off today. I've been sporting silver wires wrapped around my bottom braces for the past few months to keep them in place while the uppers finished aligning. Well somewhere along the way I developped a teeny gap one tooth off from the center. Yep - right off center bottom row. Yes, I floss. No, I didn't realize that gap was there *rolls eyes* So my lowers are newly braced with clear ligaments (I forgot how hard it was to see those ...
So uhhh, no the braces didn't come off yesterday. In fact in the last month one of my teeth moved back to where it was pre-braces I have 3/4s of my top row wrapped with silver wire to keep them in place while the other 1/4 had the regular clear bands on. They were supposed to move around to fill in a small gap. Instead of filling in the gap one tooth opted to go retro So now I have a power chain on that part (rest still wrapped) trying to force that tooth ...
Yesterday was my first adjusment. It went great; all my ortho did was change my upper and lower wire. I was expecting to have some pain this morning, but I didn't. I don't feel much discomfort at all. I even forget that I had an adjustment. I wonder if this is normal. I mean, is it okay not to feel any type of discomfort after an adjustment? If everything is okay, well then I guess I could say I am very lucky! :-)
Hi All Here I am again posting something about my doggone teeth. My journey has been so freaking kooky I don't know how to behave. I am now into my 5th set of spacers! Ah the joy of the a perfect smile! I spoke with my ortho yesterday after my appt and she informed me that now my teeth are aligned on the bottom just like she wanted them so now we can move onto the power chains on the bottom teeth and new tighter wire and finally a bracket on my tooth that was ...
So... Back in December I posted about having a small gap between my teeth on the left hand side. I saw my ortho on Wednesday and mentioned the gap to his assistant while she was setting up my files and things. He came in, she mentioned the gap and he looked "I don't see a gap," he says. "What!?" I ask and tongue the spot to make sure it hasn't closed on the ride over. "Can you point it out to me?" he asked ...
