So got all my details on surgery the other day. Will be happening on April 4th and I am on a soft food diet for 6 weeks after which means no chewing, getting all my favorites in before hand. Anyways nothing new has happened as now I am not seeing the other until 2 weeks after I have my surgery. Will keep your guys posted.

I will have to post new pictures once I can get my computer to let me on as thats where all my camera stuff is loaded. Also all thats left after surgery is fine ...

Soo I've had funky teeth since as far back as I can remember...add coke bottle glasses and no sense of style and I didn't have a chance in jr. high. I did get contacts eventually and learned the art of having friends dress me, which helped significantly! But I have always been super self conscience of my teeth. Especially in a society that bases so much of your self worth on your smile! Think about it! Go look back at all the great celebrities of the last century and then look at them today, everyone ...

So, shortly after the new year, I will be getting braced. This is the second time in my adult life of having full braces and I am pretty excited. I feel like I know what to expect since I just had braces less than 10 years ago, but I also know that a lot has changed in orthodontics in that time frame.

I will be getting all my braces (top and bottom) on January 4th. I will not need any spacers or anything in preparation for having the braces put on. I wasn't sure if my next apt ...

So, I was texting with my best friend the other day, setting up a dinner date for the following week and I mentioned to her that I will be getting braces again on January 4th. Well, she is the best, she was very excited for me and assured me that it'll be great. She said she would get them too if she could. So, she has a dentist appointment soon and said she would have them check what her insurance covers and that if she can afford it, she will get them too! If so, I won't be alone with braces ...

The first time I was referred to an orthodontist is when I was around 9 years old. I was very excited at that age, I thought braces were cool. As I approach 30, the last thing I ever imagined that would be happening to bring in the new year would be me getting braces...again! This will be my 3rd time undergoing orthodontic treatment. Needless to say, the past two attempts have only masked my major problem (moderate overbite) instead of fixing it. After four loooooong months it's finally time for my initial invisalign appointment!! I go in on Monday to get all the x-rays, moulds etc done and pay my deposit. I think the deposit is the thing I am most apprehensive of! After Monday there's no backing out, so it's really happening.

I'm not sure how long it's going to take to get my aligners but I'm considering having a pre-invisalign party where I can eat, drink and be merry for the last time without the need for worrying about ...

So I had an appointment with the orthodontist today... Made me realise how long I've been going to Bournemouth Hospital, and how often I've gone recently as the receptionist said "Hello Hannah, how are you?" I must have gone many times for her to remember me out of all the faces she must see every day!

Anyway, about the appointment... she seemed happy with how the bands are closing the gap, and just as I mastered putting in the other bands she changed the ones I had! ...

Holy progress Batman!! My lower wire has seriously been working some overtime. I have some new pics posted on my blog: http://dswiz.blogspot.com. If you compare my new pic with 5 weeks ago, or even 2 weeks ago you can see a major difference! This wire is seriously amazing.

...appointments are quick and painless?

Today I had an appointment with my ortho and she said "Well you won't thank me if I put on hooks before your holiday, and as you've had a change of date we can do that another time anyway."

Thank you! I think having MORE metal in my mouth might have dampened my holiday mood. Even better though, they tried out my wafers, and they fit perfectly no pain today!

I got a phone call from the hospital today and wow is all I can say.

My jaw surgery was meant to be on 21st July, and I'd you know, gotten used to the idea. But now that's all changing...

The hospital were already freaking out because they wanted to see me on the 19th but can't, but that won't be an issue now. The woman on the phone said an urgent cancer case has come up, so my operation is now going to be on 4th August, two weeks later.

Any one else find that sometimes the hospital just doesn't listen to you? Or they do, but the communication within the hospital means the message gets lost?

Basically, I'm due surgery on both jaws on 21st July. Sounds alright, still got loads of time to sort everything out. Well not really. I'm going on holiday soon, from 12th to 19th July. I won't get back until about 8 o'clock in the evening, so I told the hospital at my pre-op assessment on 28th June, "I can't do 12th-19th ...

So today I finally received my treatment plan!

Here's what I learned about my teeth:

- My front upper and lower teeth are crowded and overlapped
- My lower left canine tooth is protruded
- Due to a baby tooth I have collapsed teeth on the lower right side
- I have a lack of canine guidance meaning that my canines do not touch and therefore my jaw has nothing to guide it in the right directions
- I have an incorrect bite on the ...

Anyway ... I am super happy to announce that I am officially into Phase 3 of my treatment! This is the last phase, and involves torquing. Basically, the positioning of my teeth is pretty much done, but we now need to move the roots to match.
