Any one else find that sometimes the hospital just doesn't listen to you? Or they do, but the communication within the hospital means the message gets lost? Basically, I'm due surgery on both jaws on 21st July. Sounds alright, still got loads of time to sort everything out. Well not really. I'm going on holiday soon, from 12th to 19th July. I won't get back until about 8 o'clock in the evening, so I told the hospital at my pre-op assessment on 28th June, "I can't do 12th-19th ...
So today I finally received my treatment plan! Here's what I learned about my teeth: - My front upper and lower teeth are crowded and overlapped - My lower left canine tooth is protruded - Due to a baby tooth I have collapsed teeth on the lower right side - I have a lack of canine guidance meaning that my canines do not touch and therefore my jaw has nothing to guide it in the right directions - I have an incorrect bite on the ...
So this post is a week late, but my post from this week won't make any sense without it. Sorry about that! Anyway ... I am super happy to announce that I am officially into Phase 3 of my treatment! This is the last phase, and involves torquing. Basically, the positioning of my teeth is pretty much done, but we now need to move the roots to match. I went in last week for a long appointment to get the extra torquing wires etc on, but my ortho had some bad news - he was ...

Right now, I'm kind of going through some mix emotions about going to my first consultation on Monday. I'm excited for the simple fact that I'm on my way of getting my perfect smile. I'm nervous, because I'm 27yrs. old and worried what people are going to think. I'm also anxious, to see what the doctor is going to suggest for my treatment. To explain more deeply as to why I am nervous. It took me a long time to get to the point to feel comfortable smiling with my bad teeth. I used ...
I had my spacers put on all of an hour and a half ago and they hurt less now that they did when I had them placed on. The ortho did allow me to take Motrin right before they were put on and I think that helped because as I was driving home I noticed that there was no pain. They did say that the pain would kick in by tomorrow morning and that if I had to have something stronger they would call in a prescription. I don't even notice them for now, but I do think that they may give me a headache because ...
Hello all! I just discovered this website and I am so glad I could ask questions here and I am hoping for some answers because evidently I am in a big mess!! My ortho discovered I had impacted canines and she exposed them and I had worn braces for an year. Unfortunately I had to discontinue the treatment in my country as I had to move to America for my further education. Long story short, I have exposed canines without braces! My question is how long will it take for ...
I'm debating a few things before brace day... one is whether I do go the ceramic route. I'd like to, but I'm scared that they're supposedly bigger than the metal brackets. I couldn't rightly compare them off the models. They really look like the same size to me. I just don't want to deal with sores and whatnot. I had my final consult (I think) with my ortho, just had questions about a few things. I'm feeling quite ready to start this journey! I'm relieved that I can use elastics ...
After being recommended for braces by my dentist, I decided to go to three consults. All three went well for the most part. I just wanted to verify that they stated the same issues with the same recommended treatment. No invisalign for me. I have one last consult to go to, to discuss further details with the orthodontist I'm getting braces with in January. There were things brought up in my last consult that I wanted to verify with them. I'm really on the border ...

The 2nd part of my consultation with Ortho number 2 was today. I am very pleased with him (and the rest of the team there) and his treatment plan... so I have booked my B day. Spacers will be fitted on the 10th November and upper braces on the 18th November (lower braces fitted later into treatment).

I already typed up a 'detailed' post about this consultation and uploaded it to my Blog, but it turned out quite long... so I wont post it all here. I will just shorten it here. So in short: it went very well! He took photos of my teeth, photos of my profile and did impressions. He also measured up the sizes for molar bands. No extractions are needed (yippeee! ), well, apart from my final wisdom tooth I have left (he doesn't agree with extracting ...
So earlier today I had my first consultation for a fixed brace. Firstly, I just want to say... I will definitely be having another consultation with another Orthodontist . My consultation went ok. I made a short list of questions I'd like to ask, but he answered most of them before I even got to ask, so that was good. No molds or x-rays were taken at this consultation (they would be taken at next appointment if I went ahead with treatment), but he did look in my mouth/around ...

March 4, 2010 Met with Doctor John j. Marchetto, D.M.D. to discuss TMJ symptoms and fixing my bite. I am equally concerned with my Class 3 Bite Occlusion as I am with the TMJ symptoms I am having. A friend and past patient referred me to the doctor (she had jaw surgery). Initially I was impressed with the office and the easy check in system via computer along with a short wait time. The doctor really had his practice fine-tuned and as a businessman I can tell when someone takes ...
I was on a holiday last week. We started our trip three days after I got my upper braces. Well as almost everyone - at least I think so - my first few days in braces were very hard. I had that constant pain in my dents, the braces made my upper lip look so swollen, and the brackets rubbed my mouth at several points. Painkillers and dental wax became my constant companions. I still can't eat aníthing that is needed to chew. Until now I lost almost 2 kilograms, and I'm quite unhappy because of it ...
Saw my orthodontist on Thursday to get aligner 4 and have some IPR and attachments put on. He said he was really happy with how my teeth are moving, and said he thought I don't need the attachments at all!!! I'm so happy! Aligner 4 is going well, was a bit tighter than the others, but my teeth are really starting to take shape! I also asked him to show me my final aligner, and it looks so good that its motivated me alot to carry on!!!
Finally, I have braces on top! It took me months to get them because my orthodontists works only once a fortnight and I had to have 4 (!) teeth extracted prior to that. I didnt think it would be sooo hard. The problem is that I have a wire on my palate to sort of anchor my back teeth and it is extremely uncomfortable to eat. I'd say close to unbearable. Not that it takes at least 45 minutes but it also hurts and the food gets stuck on the palate wire, let alone the food on braces. So I wonder if ...
