Introduce yourself here.
Hello and welcome to my journey in adult orthodontics! I first found out that I needed braces in early 2007. For the past three years I have mastered orthodontic procrastination (ie. doing anything BUT starting my orthodontic work!). Imagine, if I'd started back then, it might all be over by now! Anyway, my story begins where many do - thumbsucking! Followed by some over-zealous dental extracting in my junior years, leaving me with gaps and an overbite. My treatment plan was finalised about ...
Hello lovely people, after months of reading everyones brace stories i decided to take the plunge, I have always had jaw aches and grinding my teeth due to alighnement probs caused by having two big teeth out and wisdoms moving to the gaps causing my teeth to mis align. I went to the LBDP Dr Michael Akere who was lovely and out me at ease! they feel very tender as its my second day, BUT I managed to eat a kentucky LOL ...will keep you updated x
I got my impressions done a couple of months back in late July and my first set of aligners arrived early this month. I have never had any braces before or any other correction to my teeth. I decided to go for Invisalign after seeing the change visible in my friend's smile. My friend used the Invisalign braces for close to a year and the results are simply dramatic. I have decided to take the plunge and look forward to see similar changes in my smile. I had the option of trying traditional ...
Today I had my retainer fitted to expand my top pallet. Within an hour my mouth and face started aching. I suffered from a sore head for the day too. Pain killers didn't seem to do much to help either. I have constantly been slevering and find it very difficult to eat. Ive stuck to soft bread, soup and banana for today, hopefully tomorrow I will be able to eat more. I have been lisping all day too, which is really embarrassing lol Ive been told this will ease after ...
My name is Liz. I'm a 25 year old New Yorker, and I'm about to go through a dental transformation. I hope to use this blog to chronicle my journey - the good, the bad and the ugly. It's going to be a longgg trip. I have a long set of work and procedures ahead of me: * <s>get my records done for braces</s> * <s>get all necessary dental work done</s> * get wisdom teeth out (ouch) * get braces put on (18 months!) ...
Hey everyone, This is my 1st blog posting. I get my braces this Thursday July, 13th and I can't wait. At my consultation I was told that I should only need them for 1 year and I hope that doesn't change for the worse. I wasn't given a breakdown about what type of bite I have or what my problem is but I went in because I have a small gap in my front teeth, some gaps on the right side and an overbite. So personally I just want to close my gap and spaces. I didn't think my overbite ...
Now that my orthodontic journey has irrevocably started, I decided to put in written form here all those things that happens with me during my time in braces. After spending a week in spacers I was ready to get my braces. I was extremly happy to get rid of those little blue "monsters" from between my upper molars, they were quite painful for me - according to my ortho it was probably because my upper teeth are too close to each other. After removing my tormentors she first ...

I wish I would have taken pictures of Day 1 with braces. Oh well, better late than never. I want to track the progress of my Damon braces and bite turbos. The first week was very painful, and I was very close to throwing in the towel. Luckily, I am getting used to eating with the bite turbos and can chew enough so I am no longer on a soft foods diet. I wasn't sure I could survive on mashed potatoes and ice cream. Here are the pictures 18 days in...
Newbie here. Damon 3 - clear for those interested. Am I getting a little nervous about the process? Yup - of course I am! who wouldn't be... Honestly though, my concerns do not really stem from "what will they think;" im pretty confident I wont be that self conscious. Actually, Im quite sure I’ll rock a metal mouth like no 26yr old before me. I have a way like that. My butterflies and 4 am lucid dreams are more related to what am i going to ...
Hi my name is Jaime, I am 27 years old. For years I have always wanted to "fix" my smile. I have a very big overbite along with a little crowding. I had my consultation back in July, and my orthodontist went over our treatment plan. I will be in braces for about 18-24 months. I will start with metal braces on my lower, and have to wear a bite plate on the top. I will have to wear the bite plate for a few months before I can start with my ceramic on top. For those who aren't ...

Well I got the ceramic braces on yesterday 11/9/09, and the appointment went smoothly. I was surprised by the fact that I need to wear a top retainer 24x7, and am trying to learn to speak normally again. For ligatures, my ortho recommended against the clear since I'm a smoker, which the tech had already put on the bottom row of teeth. I asked her to put silver on top, and I think the silvers are much less noticable than the clear on the bottom. I'll find out soon how easy these ...
Okay so here we go I got my metal braces today. Heck yeah it was painful but it was also exciting and fun. My ortho is GREAT! She kind of reminds me of Doctors who come in when the work is just about complete to inspect everything that the other dental assistant's do and then put a stamp on it and keep it moving... she however participated in my treatment and even assisted in inspecting my brackets and wire. I am now into hour four and thank goodness I took some drugs beforehand. ...
Morning, I thought I would introduce the situation of my teeth right at the beginning of my blog. Attachment 51 Lower: My lower teeth appear much worse than my top. I have crowding at the front, which was worsened by my wisdom teeth popping out. I also have a baby tooth still residing on my left, with no adult tooth to push it out. Upper: My upper teeth actually require more work than the bottom. My wisdom ...
Hi This is still available at langsinvisalignjourney.blogspot.com Hi My name is Lang and I'm 35 years old and I turned down braces in my younger years, which was a silly mistake, so after years of not smiling I've finally decided to go for Invisaligns I have had my new smile designed. I can't believe I first visited the ortho on February 12th (so many problems with multiple impressions- my mouth not fitting the trays, having to order special medium ...
