  1. Great news from surgeon and ortho =]

    by , 11-12-2010 at 02:57 PM
So this week I've been busy. I had my post op appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday. After her being afraid to come in the room since she thought I was gonna kill her from all the bruising and soreness, I was told I was doing great and wouldn't need to see her again until my next surgery for my lower jaw. She did say she knew it was going to be bad for me. She wasnt even done with the surgery and I was already bruising and swelling so she thought there may be some bleeding so she made a few more ...

  2. post surgery update

    by , 11-04-2010 at 12:03 PM
Since I was able to stay awake a lil longer I thought I would post an update. I had my surgery on tuesday (the second), for my palate opened and wisdom removed. I don't know how many times she started turning my expander but i already have a gap in my front teeth a kinda big one and I'm kinda happy but not really. Let me say wisdom teeth stink to get taken out. I been quite swollen and as it seems to go down it increases later on. I was able to look at where they were removed. My lowers looks like ...

  3. Week 8 Update - 1st Adjustment - Powerchains Added

    by , 09-29-2010 at 12:01 PM
Adjustment went very smooth. I was started with an intermediate wire, so it was left in and powerchains were added on both top and bottom. The goal is to close the spaces over the next 6 weeks and then I will be moving towards the surgical wires. I'll do another update in a couple weeks to show what the powerchains have done to close the spaces.

    Here are some pics:

  4. 6 Week Ceramic Braces Update

    by , 09-19-2010 at 09:03 PM
Things are going as expected. My bite has gotten a bit worse, but this is very common as we are working on straightening the teeth within the arch at this point. It is a slow gradual change, so doesn't bother me much at all.
Still flossing is the biggest PIA, but I sit in the bathroom and take my time to do it several times per week. It is interesting that certain teeth hurt for a few days (sign of movement) here 6 weeks out. My ortho is doing adjustments every 8 weeks and was very clear ...

  5. Overbite Surgery :S

    by , 06-01-2010 at 06:22 PM
Hi, I have a serious overbite and have to have surgery for it... I was wondering if anyone has had overbite surgery and whether anyone could tell me what happens during the surgery? And whether the surgery was worth it. I'm fifteen and quite nervous about it. It will be the first time I've ever had surgery. I'd just like some reassurance.

  8. Braces on 09/16/09

by , 09-17-2009 at 08:46 PM (Full Metal Braces @ 23 Years Old)
So my appointment for braces to be put on was yesterday (Sept. 16/09) morning at 9:10 AM. Everything went by pretty quick it seemed, though it was 11 AM before I left the Ortho's office.

I came in a few minutes early, but they were prepared and have everything ready to go. So I went in and sat down and they polished my teeth off first. Then the cheek expander went in..which was uncomfortable for me, cause it rubbed on the top of my gum line.

    My brackets were already ...

  9. Swollen gums and surgery

by , 08-06-2009 at 02:49 PM (Thirty with Braces)
Does anyone else ever feel like their mouth is just one big science expirement?

I went in for a routine cleaning yesterday - complete with all the flying water works. These used to be so much dryer pre-braces

I somehow managed to chip a back bottom filling since my last cleaning - heavens knows how. My gums are also pretty swollen on the side where I have chains. I really hate the chains and wish they would come off at next week's appointment but I doubt it. The ...

  11. Hi!

    by , 05-10-2009 at 09:08 PM
So this is my first blog on here Someone said I should get one so here I am. This is probably gonna be a bit long so I recommend getting a snack now

So this whole thing started February 10th, 2005 when I got my braces. After a while I got my wisdom teeth removed October 17th 2007 when I was 13 years old. The oral surgeon put me out and dug my wisdom teeth out. This was only the beginning of my oral surgeries. Actually when I was younger he had to cut part of the thing that ...
  12. Could it be possible? Could things be getting...better?!

    by , 04-12-2009 at 02:12 AM
So it's the end of day four. My cheeks are healing from my very brutal mistake of not slathering on tons of wax the minute the brackets went on. I have a cut on the tip of my tongue that hurts pretty bad from hitting it on one of the brackets but that will heal. My teeth are still incredibly sensitive to pressure. I can't chew a potato chip. I had a black olive with dinner and it even hurt to bite into that. Is this normal?! Also, I found some Freedent at the store and bought a pack, but it's ...

  13. Day after extractions

by , 04-10-2009 at 07:18 AM (Linguals & Clarity braces in London)
    Attachment 50

I had two extractions yesterday both on my lower (no.5's) to make room for the teeth to straighten.

I've never had any extractions or surgery before so was quite apprehensive about it. I was heavily sedated (not put completely under) and can't remember a thing after the drip was put in my arm and they put sunglasses on me.

Next thing I know I was picked up off the dental chair and sat outside with a pulse monitor on my finger. It ...
