So, it's official, I'm all braced up. I've had my braces on for just under 12 hours and already it's been an adventure. The application wasn't too bad. They cleaned my teeth really well before putting the brackets on. It took about 1.5 hours to put all the brackets on and place the arch wires. The brackets were super uncomfortable at first and I got very worried, but it was less annoying once the wires were put in. When I looked in the mirror for the first time ...
Okay so basically my treatment as been boringly uneventful. I guess that's what happens when you get close to your de-banding date right?? (At least I hope I'm close!) I think my ortho is trying to perfect my midline, and I have seen definite improvement since a few weeks ago. Shoot, I better see improvement since I've been wearing my rubber bands like my life depends on it! Lets take a look Week 62 - Almost there!!! My midlines are SO close! ...
I've never been one to smile with teeth. Never ever. My teeth were always crowded, and it just wasn't pretty (lol) so I didn't do it. Now that my teeth have straightened out, it's been/will be a huge adjustment. While on vacation (to San Francisco!!) in December, we snapped quite a few pictures. I was surprised to catch myself smiling with teeth way more than usual (anything more than zero is more than usual) so I figured I would post and share my smile with you! ...
Got my wires in place with 2 power chains and 2 bands.
It's been a while since my last post! November was boring, and nothing changed much (just some minor tweaks by my perfectionist ortho), but this month has been more eventful. I had my first December appointment on 12/15, where my ortho decided that one of my bottom teeth needed to be turned slightly. He couldn't get the spring on it the normal way, so we had to MacGyver it a little. We also discovered that another one of my bottom brackets was busted. Of course, the one next to my original busted ...
One Year in braces and probably less than a year to go !!!!!! I have not posted in awhile cause my braces are getting VERY VERY boring. I barely have any overbite maybe 1mm compared to 10mm a year ago when I started this journey. I went in for my 9th adjustment yesterday and asked the question....... SOOOOOOOOOOOO it's been a year, do I have another year and a half??? And he kinda thinks and hesitates and says OH NO, a year tops and maybe if I'm really ...

Although I've been in braces for quite awhile, close to 2 years (March), I want to write about my experience. I chose lingual braces for aesthetic purposes to bring down my impacted canine. My exposure surgery was June 2010. I thought my tooth would be in place by now but hopefully it will be there soon. My teeth were nice prior to braces although I had a mild overbite. Now my teeth are looking the worse and I'm struggling as I thought after this much time my teeth would look ...
via my blog: Wired Journey Well one year and a week has gone by and my 7th adjustment is done. My ortho says my teeth are straight, my bite looks good, and my debanding date will depend on how strict I wear my Class 2 rubberbands! He said I am way ahead of schedule (based on their records my original debanding date was Nov 1, 2012). So basically the more I wear my rubberbands, the sooner my braces come off! Woohoo! I think he is just trying to fix my midline. Just a guess, I didn't ...

I am getting my braces done at the University Orthodontist Clinic. My biggest problem was my upper canine tooth. I joined this forum, hopefully there are enough people active on here to get advice and ask questions. On November 30th, 2011 I got the brackets put in. I need 4 extractions so they did not put the wires in. After the brackets were put in, they took me upstairs to the Oral Surgery Clinic to make an appointment for the extractions on December 12th. Wow, this was painful ...

I thought it would be kind of cool to compare pictures of how my teeth looked before braces and a year after braces (well almost a year... 50 weeks later). Before braces: before-braces.jpg (You can't even see my bottom teeth when I bite down! And look how narrow my arch is. You can only see 6 teeth total!) Week 50 of braces: week50-braces.jpg (My arch is MUCH wider and my lower teeth have come down A LOT. I'm ecstatic ...
So I am currently at the year mark from my palate expander surgery and lets just say I have come a long way in that year. Yesterday I had an appointment for comparison impressions no wire change or nothing. Pretty much everything is the same as last month. I will be going back to them next week for the surgical wires and to have my canine rotated and then I am all set. Now I will post photos I took right after my surgery to compare with those I took today to see progress as it is impressive and ...
Guess who is in their finishing wires?? ME!! Finally my last wires! I swear I have had about 5 or 6 different sets of wires so far during my treatment. It feels great to hit this kind of milestone in my treatment. My orthodontist was very happy with the progress of my teeth and said that my bottom teeth have really opened up and my bite was looking great. My upper teeth are covering 50% of my bottom teeth unlike before I had braces where my upper teeth covered 100% of my bottom teeth. I am still ...

Ok so another appointment today, had all my ligs changed to white instead of clear this time, see how I like these. They were able to get 3 more bands on but I am still left without 2, ugh, I have to go back next week for spacers AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN! and then back a week after that for a regular appointment. I didn't even feel the bands being put on this time, it was pretty easy. I do not think my wire will be replaced until after all the bands are finally in place. I have some more spaces on my bottom ...
