10th Adjustment (2/25/11): "Kinky" Times...

Well, it’s been a month since I started my elastics, and I must admit, I feel naked without them! I change them after every main meal (B, L, D), and if I happen to “shred” them a bit while eating things I’m not supposed to (popcorn is a big culprit!) The office manager (ortho’s wife) was the one who removed my powerchain today and told me “Your teeth are looking great! Isn’t it amazing how some teeth can move so quickly, and others take forever to even move 1 mm?” That’s the first positive comment about my teeth I’ve ever heard from any of them. Then the doc came over to check things out. When he removed my bottom wire, I thought “FINALLY!” because I haven’t had that wire changed since October of last year. He put a few small kinks in it, (“kinky”… get it?!Okay, nevermind… ) and put it back in. Could he be trying to rotate my teeth, or bring forward a couple of teeth that are kinda hanging out a bit behind the others? I was going to mention to him that I was wondering how my lower canines (which are a bit turned, and behind the others) were going to align with the rest of them… he must’ve read my mind because he did it without my even asking.
Nothing changed on the top; just got a fresh powerchain. (I always feel so “clean” when they swap that thing out. I can just imagine what all is stuck between the links that I was unable to get to…) I told him that after the first day of elastics, they really didn’t bother me at all, and I actually look forward to changing them. He said, “That’s great! A lot of my patients can’t even make it past the first day.” So, I got two more bags of Jaguars, and will see them again in a month.
Just for fun (and because I’m a bit bored), I tried to do a “Progress Collage”. Please excuse the blank spots – some months I didn’t take pics, and I couldn't adjust the number of squares accordingly.
And here’s for all of you who get impatient waiting for your gaps to close! This is a 9-month span:
I can’t believe I’m coming up on one year of being braced! The time really does fly…
