2nd Consultation: 3-26-10

After much thought, and after reading many suggestions on this site, I decided to get a second consultation. I just was not comfortable with my first ortho's negative feelings about ceramic braces (which I had expressed interest in). I called my dentist and was referred to another ortho, who happens to be just a couple of doors away from my first ortho I had consulted a few days prior. I called him right after they opened and was in his office 30 minutes later.
Long story short - I've decided to go with this second ortho. He seemed much more open-minded; the price was better (gave me a discount for getting braced by the end of April, which basically cancelled out the extra cost of the ceramics); treatment time was shorter; AND best of all: He had NO qualms or complaints about fitting me for Clarity SL ceramics on the top, with metals on the bottom. He fully understood my need to have something I considered "aesthetically pleasing". Unfortunately... I may still have to have my first premolar extracted; however, he said he would do that sometime after the top braces were put on.
He did take some more pictures (posted here) and said that if needed, they could take their own x-rays and impressions at my next appointment, at no additional charge, as it's included in the treatment. (I was able to call my first ortho and have my records transferred over to the new one, since I'd already paid for them. I'm trying not to think about the $285 I basically flushed down the toilet...)
So, after checking my calendar at work, I scheduled my appointment for Friday, April 9th at 7:00 AM! Yep - I want to get it over with as early as possible so I can go home and wait for the pain to begin. LOL!
I'm strangely excited for this! I just told a good friend of mine this evening, and unlike my family's reaction ("Why??") his response was "No way! COOL! Are you excited?" He even told me I need to get ligs in our class colors (green and gold). I just might do that!
