Corn on the cob is evil!!!!!

Hi everyone-
Been a while since I posted here, but I didn’t really have any news to report until now. (I’d like to preface this by saying that at the time this happened, I was SO OVER these braces, and my patience was ZERO.)
A few weeks ago, I went out to dinner with my family. Corn on the cob came with my meal (I’d forgotten to substitute it with something else.) I thought, “What harm can one or two bites do?” It was so DELICIOUS!! But because it’s so messy, I decided to stop eating after a few bites. Didn’t give it another thought.
Woke up the next morning to brush my teeth, and felt my elastic snap off (as it sometimes does). But when I looked in the mirror, I noticed that my bracket hook had snapped off, instead!! I actually BROKE my bracket eating that stupid corn! I was able to get into the ortho’s office a couple of days later, and had them rig a metal hook onto the bracket. Problem was that the wing-tie (the part that holds the ligs and chains in place around the bracket) was also broken. So, the hook didn’t want to stay in place. It kept bending to the side.
Last Friday, I went in for my regular adjustment, and they replaced the metal hook with another one, and said that in June he would just replace the whole bracket, itself. (Oh, I also tried to ask if I could get debraced in July, and he just told me that would be “premature”. But he did say it wouldn’t be 6 more months. So, my new bracing guesstimate is August-September.)
Anyway, that hook lasted a grand total of ½ a day before it collapsed. I spent the entire weekend with an upside-down “U” elastic config on that side because I couldn’t do anything else with it. I don’t think that config. even exists! Went in yesterday and had him replace the bracket. (Warning: Getting that thing removed was NOT fun. It took her 3 tries, and it completely shattered.) After it was replaced, almost immediately, I felt and saw a huge difference in my teeth! They’re finally shifting around and into their proper place.
