Does this look right?

As I was trying to get a piece of something (who knows what) out of my band this evening, I noticed that the ortho's assistant put one of those "stops" right next to my upper canine that is supposed to be moving. I know these things are put there to prevent the wire from shifting around too much (I also have one between my upper and lower central incisors).

My question is: Will this "stop" thing prevent my tooth from moving? I would hate to waste a month and have nothing happen if she just happened to make a mistake. My appointment was at 7:00 AM, and she admitted that is not her best time of day. haha

Thanks-
Cathy

Give your ortho a call for clarification. It may be there to stop the canine from moving too fast and you risking have the root of the tooth risk reabsorption ... which can result in the tooth becoming loose and falling out.

Remember teeth should move on average 1 mm a month ... this if fo the health of your teeth and gums.

    Good luck!
