Hi everyone-

I know it’s been a while since I’ve updated here. That’s simply because there was absolutely NOTHING to update. Aside from my upper central incisors coming together, there’s been pretty much no change anywhere else. I still have two lovely gaps from the IPR he did last month. That’s kind of sad for me, considering that I’m only supposed to have 24 days left until debracing. Uh… NOT GONNA HAPPEN, PEOPLE! Not even close. I don’t see a debracing before June, at the very earliest. :( It’s a bit disheartening to see my teeth look so bad, so close to my supposed debrace date.

I think I got a couple more bends in my wire (though I can’t for the life of me find them), and a new elastics configuration: BOXES! The same Rhinocerous elastics I used for the zigzag configuration are now being used to box-in all of my teeth that have hooks on them (so, that would be all 8 on the right and all 7 on the left). They feel fine (nowhere near as painful or uncomfortable as the zigzag) but I know they’re gonna tear the hell outta the inside of my mouth at some point. And they make my lips look all weird when I smile.

Some pics:

(See my gap?!)

(Puffy lower lip… yuck!)

I have had the same gap in between two teeth for months! They have been trying to close it with power chains. UGH. I miss seeing progress every other week. Now they are just in the fine tuning stages. Your teeth look fantastic though! What does the box configuration do? I have been in the same Class II elastics configuration for a year now! :(

    Hey girl!
I think the box config. is to close my bite. I must have developed a bit of an open bite somewhere along the way (probably after he put me in the Class II's again last month). So, to date I've had Class II's, regular triangles, upside-down triangles, zigzags, and now boxes! If he could just get that darn upper-right central incisor to "play nice" with the lateral next to it (hence, the huge gap in between), then things would be moving along. It seems like that tooth only wants to be attached to the central-left one. Ortho said it would move eventually. I'm concerned that even with powerchains, it won't close.

I know I said these elastics didn't hurt, but I'm starting to develop a dull headache now, only an hour after getting them on. Can't believe these things are so strong! haha

Hmmm I have an open bite on one side, but I'm still in Class IIs. I wonder if I will have to do box configuration eventually. haha these stubborn teeth! Isn't it funny how we were so concerned with our whole mouth and everything about braces in the beginning, and now it's like "this one tooth will not move over 2mm!" lol :)

I love the shape of your teeth. And THANK GOD someone else experiences "the puffy lip"!! I have tons of pics like that :/ So annoying. I've never even heard of the box configuration of elastics, that's interesting! Good luck.. sorry to hear about the delayed de-banding...

Wow, they are close. The anxiety lol!!! I think they look really good. Is bonding an option now if the gaps don't close?? or do you just wait ?

Good Luck, hang in there. 2 years is a LONG time but your almost there.
