Mini update

Almost 3 months into treatment. July 16 is the month-iversary. I'll post new pictures then. It's amazing how much my teeth have improved in so little time. My bottom teeth are nearly all straight. There is only one tooth that is slightly turned. The vertical gap I have between my top and bottom teeth (an open bite) is closing rapidly. This is the main reason I got braces. A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the right side of my mouth is improving faster. Well the left side is finally catching up! These new positions feel very strange to me. I'm so glad I went through with treatment.
Also, when my teeth were cleaned, I was told that the back of my front teeth were starting to stain, probably caused by all the tea I drink. I vowed to not drink tea anymore, which is a bold statement considering I live in the South where sweet tea is a part of the culture. Surprisingly, I have not consumed one sip of the sugary goodness since my cleaning. Even more surprisingly, I don't miss it! Chai and thai tea, on the other hand, are always on my mind.

Great to read that it's going so well for you Cellardoor.
I drink tea and masala chai many times during the day and keep the staining to a minimum by brushing with a toothpaste that includes baking soda and peroxide. It won't whiten teeth, but it removes recent staining. My dentists have recommended I brush like this, due to my love for these drinks and there's no way I'll make myself stop doing anything I enjoy so much. It's great that your alignment is being sorted out so well. This is always the best part of the early months of ortho treatment. Keep up the great attitude!  |
