On 12/16/08, I will have had my braces on for 8 months! It's so hard to believe this much time has passed already. My next adjustment is on the 17th, and I'm going to ask my ortho about the tongue thrust issue and these headaches I've been having. At my last adjustment, I had the "finishing wire" (the thick curly one) put on my top teeth, so I hope that means my treatment will be over soon.

Here are some pictures.

For reference, this is what my teeth looked like on April 18, 2008 (2 days after I got my braces on). The large gap between my upper and lower jaws is the open bite, possibly caused by my tongue thrust habits. Note: my back teeth are completely touching, but my front teeth have never been able to overlap like they're supposed to, or even touch for that matter.

And here are today's pictures. This is how 8 months of orthodontic treatment have improved my bite. Notice that my open bite is nearly gone!

The right side of my jaws improved a bit faster than the left as less movement was needed.

So there is still a tiny gap present on the left side. The elastics have definitely helped with this.

I am so satisfied with my results thus far.

... and so you should be!

The improvement in your bite is amazing and it looks like your ortho has those archwires doing a magickal job!

Good luck discussing the possibility of a tongue thrust, as there's no way you'd want to undo that fantastic work!
