Loose bracket

Last Friday, the bracket on one of my top molars came loose. I'm not really sure how this happened. I don't eat any of the foods my otho told me not to eat. When I call them about it, they said that it can wait until my adjustment appointment on June 9th to fix it. That seems really odd to me. The bracket is still held on the tooth with the wire, so it's not going to fall off or anything. It just slides over my tooth whenever I eat or brush. I guess if it was really important then they would see me right away as they did when the wire popped out of one bracket. I just hope this doesn't mess up my progress!

Wow! Was that tooth crooked? I have had that happen before... on a tooth that was crooked.

Cellardoor a bracket that comes loose will rarely affect progress. Even if the bracket falls off, the tooth will quickly move again when the bracket and archwire is replaced, be it a month or more later.
There are many reasons why brackets come loose and mostly it's non food related. More often it's to do with the original bonding on that tooth, or the angle relationship between the tooth, bracket and archwire. Keep positive!  |

Its ok my brakets have poped off for weird resons before. Once I was over at my friends house for a sleepover and i was flossing my teeth before bed. We were both in the bathroom together as she brushed and I as flossing. Then suddenly I heard a clink as something hit a toliet bowl. When I looked in the mirror I saw that my braket was missing and when me and my friend looked into the toliet it was floating on the top. Try explaining that to your parents!!

Thanks everyone! My bracket is still loose, but my ortho said it doesn't need to be fixed until my first adjustment, which is over a week away. I'm so anxious!
