Well I've been 2.5 days without braces now, and I'm soooooooo thankful. The invisilign retainer has already started to adjust my top teeth. They feel better already.

The permanent wire retainer on the bottom is taking some time to acclimate to. certain foods, like bananas, get under the wire when I eat them, but it's much better than having food stuck in my braces. I'm sure in a few weeks, I won't even notice the wire anymore. Plus by then, I'll only be wearing the invisilign retainer at night instead of full time like I'm doing now.

So, things are going pretty well. I'm getting a lot of positive feed back from my friends, co-workers, etc. The funny thing is that my boyfriend didn't even notice! It wasn't until we kissed that he said, "hey, your braces are off!" lol. He said he noticed my smile was bigger but couldn't figure out why. Haha.

I definitely do smile bigger. I feel a lot more confident now, and I'm not holding back my smiles anymore. And best of all, I can actually chew and bite with my front teeth, and I don't have headaches anymore. Success!

The braces have been removed!! Horray!!

Overall the appointment lasted 2.5 hours this morning. The actual removing of the brackets was a little painful, especially on the bottom teeth.

Now I have a wire retainer on my bottom teeth, and an invisilign retainer for the top. The plan is for the invisilign retainer to align my top teeth in about 3 weeks, so I have to wear this full time. Hopefully they'll be adjusted by then. If so, I'll just have to wear a new retainer at night.

Next Monday I have my first post-braces cleaning! I'm looking forward to getting back into a simplified nightly cleaning routine as well.

I'm incredibly happy with the results, and it happened in only 11 months! (Now if my monthly payments would end as well..)

Ok much time has passed. Lets see...

After my last post, I had to go back to the ortho bc the h-chain on my lower brackets fell off. Once that was replaced I was good to go for the next 4 weeks.

My last adjustment was February 25, 2009. At this time, my ortho bend my top wire, and I got new h-chain. Still wearing the elastics. I was concerned about my front right tooth because it had not moved at all since the last adjustment.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2009, I'm scheduled to get my braces off. I'm still really worried about that stubborn front tooth because it has not moved even the slightest bit in 8 weeks. (I have pictures to post soon). I'll be really unhappy if my teeth stay in this position forever because my top teeth are clearly not aligned properly. I'll ask my ortho about it when I go on Wednesday.

Other than that, everything is great! My bottom teeth are perfect. I'm very happy with the results, except that one tooth - ugh. The main thing is that I can now bite and chew with my front teeth! That's so amazing to me as I've never been able to do that before.

Looks like there's a lot of new people on this site. I like the new photo albums. Glad to see the site is improving and expanding. :thumb:

Well today was the day! I had my second to last adjustment and found out I'm getting my braces off in 8 weeks: March 25, 2009!!!! Horray.

But the appointment today was so painful. It lasted an hour and a half (a good portion of that was spent waiting). I got a new threader on the bottom teeth and one on the top teeth. I also have the h-chains, I believe they are called, on top and bottom. Elastic wear switched from triangles to mid-lines, which I've discovered are more difficult to put on.

So 4 more weeks until my next, and final, adjustment. I'm counting down the days!

For reference, here are my teeth after 2 days of ortho treatment

My teeth as of last month

And here are my teeth today!

The stubborn gap on the left side is closing ever so slowly.

I can't really see any differences between last month and this month.
