2 Weeks Down!
Posted 10-08-2008 at 07:45 PM by CaitlinC412
I've accomplished two weeks with my iBraces/traditional braces combo
I feel 100% adjusted to them now and, for the most part, I felt this way after 1 week as well.
My tongue and cheeks have all toughened up so I no longer need to use wax (I found the OraJel mouthwash to be extremely helpful as well, in case anyone is looking for suggestions!).
My speech is just about normal I think. I still have a slight lisp (more of a hiss sound actually when I say "S"'s), which I think I will have throughout treatment since my tongue can't touch the back of my top teeth like it normally does when I speak. I'm very much OK with this though, and no one seems to notice.
I'm very happy to report that eating is just about normal again, too. I'm following the rules and staying away from bracket-breakers, but I'm now accustomed to chewing with these things on and my bite has adjusted accordingly. I'm also getting over the fear that ANYTHING I eat or chew will break them off, haha. Turns out they're pretty well stuck on.
My first adjustment is not until November 20th (I go every 8 weeks). I will update again after that.
Cheers

Good luck at your adjustment!
I'm glad your mouth is adjusting nicely to your brackets! My mouth is ultra sensitive and I've had to go back for 2 'emergency' appointments for wires/brackets poking into my cheeks, and even though they put spacers in and fixed the wires, they still hurt. |
