First real day of treatment!Great you've decided to keep a blog Tyna!
Sounds like your focus to have your bite corrected will be a positive step forward for your oral hygiene and that is definitely a good thing. Hope your appointments on 12 January go well! ![]() |

anxiously waitingTalk to your ortho about your left side. Maybe the elastic only needed to make minor improvements. Keep positive that the news will be great at your appointment. Your bite looks fantastic!

anxiously waitingyea the suspense is killing me. i think once i know WHEN they're coming off, a lot of my anxiety will subside.
also, i've been constantly wearing the elastics, but i'm not showing much improvement in the left side. =/ |

anxiously waitingCellardoor they'll be off as soon as your bite is ready ... and if you're honest with yourself, you wouldn't want it any other way.
Hopefully you'll get the news you're longing for on 28 January! |

adjustment number i lost countCellardoor's ortho is using elastic thread in the same way as many ortho's use a powerchain. It looks like the way ortho's wire brackets together ie, weaving under and over the brackets that are being 'tied' together.

adjustment number i lost countMariah - sounds like it's probably what you'd know as a powerchain.
Cellardoor - I like your ortho's sense of humour Regarding retainers: is what he is talking about bonding on your uppers different than the bonded retainer on the lowers? |

Fitting bookedGood luck with this - just started my trays 2 weeks ago and they're actually quite comfortable (save for the first 1 or 2 days of each new tray).

So far so good... sort of^ heh, interesting, I didn't realize there was so much history behind it. When I was little I thought it was literally a day of boxing matches.

So far so good... sort ofThe Southern Hemisphere celebrate boxing day and recently it's become the day of the 'big sales', when stores cut prices of products dramatically so they can get rid of any over orders they made for xmas and can make room for new stock.
In New Zealand and Australia (and probably other countries), it's another good excuse for loads of sport to be played, particularly international sport and the top teams are usually out in force! I also know of many reconstituted families that live a about a half days drive away, that celebrate with one family on xmas day and with the other family on boxing day. It usually works well for children, as it gives them the chance to see their rallies over a short period of time. The research I've done shows many reasons why boxing day is named boxing day ... and here's one of the more common ones ... Boxing Day is a day the higher classes gave gifts to the lower classes. Before or on December 25th people of similar class would exchange gifts to celebrate the Christmas season. Gifts were not exchanged with the lower class until the next day called Boxing Day. It is also known as St. Stephen’s Day. Why is the holiday named Boxing Day? The holiday is named Boxing Day because the tradition of giving gifts of cash, food, clothing and other goods to the less fortunate were placed into boxes for easier transportation. The goods were distributed based on the family needs and their services to the giver. |

So far so good... sort ofAmericans don't celebrate Boxing Day. I have never heard an American call the sales after Christmas Boxing Day Sales.
Some classmates asked me what Boxing Day is. They thought it was a day where people box. lol I think Boxing Day is celebrated all over the Commonwealth, so it's not just Canadians who celebrate it. |

So far so good... sort ofsunny,
well - it was only a day ahead of schedule so it isn't a huge deal. it was funny, I was comparing my first and second aligner for differences but I haven't noticed any yet. good advice about buttons though. glad to hear you had a nice xmas dinner but sorry to hear you spent part of it in ER. btw... I believe the Americans don't have boxing day, they just have post xmas sales. black friday (day after American Thanksgiving) is their big shopping day. |

So far so good... sort ofShame about the split, but as long as your ortho approved you changing aligners earlier than expected, there shouldn't be any issues with your teeth being forced to move to suit the new aligners.
Good luck with getting your buttons fixed and make sure you practise putting your new aligners in and out (several times) before leaving your ortho's office. Hope your boxing day went well. It was extremely hot here, but it was great to get my hubby home from hospital and our kids cooked xmas dinner for us on boxing day, due to us spending xmas day at the hospital. A question ... you've wished the Canadians a productive boxing day ... does this mean that other areas over your way don't celebrate boxing day like we do here in the southern hemisphere? |
