Second 'big' adjustment/ortho visit

Posted 06-24-2009 at 05:25 PM by Denise

So I had my second major adjustment yesterday and, just like i thought, my front teeth are KILLING ME. However, my back teeth do not seem the least bit affected by the new wire.

For the last 8 weeks I've had two small springs that were connected from each front tooth, skipping the laterals (which are my only two teeth that are crooked, and they are very, very crooked) and connected to the canines. In just 8 weeks, the springs created such a noticeable gap I couldn't believe it! It was so cool to see.

Yesterday they took the springs off, which felt fantastic. They were akin to feeling like someone had taken a thick, hard noodle and glued it to my brackets - very annoying!!

I got brackets put on my laterals, which now have enough of a gap to accommodate for that, and put in a 'normal' looking wire, which is the heat-reactive wire and should help my teeth move even faster. If I could see that much movement in 8 weeks with the springs, I'm totally excited to see what 8 weeks with this wire and brackets on the crooked laterals will do! I'm just so stoked that I am actually going to have beautiful, straight teeth!!
