My last appointment was Monday the 14th, and I went in ready with my demands. I was greeted by my same ortho tech I've had the last several times, a girl in her mid-20's who is just as sweet as all get out. She starts off by saying we are going to take some x-rays today. Yay!! That's a good sign! So we go to take them, and I tell her I'm done. April 8 will be two years for me, and I'm so over these damn things being in my mouth. She kind of laughed and said she totally understands where I'm coming from. The Orthodontist wants to play with my bite some more but honestly it does not need it. The man is a ridiculous perfectionist. He quoted a friend of mine 24 months and kept her in them for 29. I refuse. My mid line is spot-on, my bite is fantastic, my teeth are straight. I'm DONE. So she looks at my xrays and said everything to her looked really good. So the doc comes over after she's done cleaning my teeth and such, and looks at the xrays and agrees everything looks good. So now we just have to close up two small gaps and I'LL BE DONE!!!!! They put me in two power chains on top and on bottom. I've never had double power chains on top and bottom and holy ouch. My jaw and teeth were SO sore. My jaw is still sore, but the tooth sensitivity has gone away. I am watching these gaps a bit over-zealously, as I want to wake up and magically see them all closed up but really can't tell much difference at all in these past four days. My next appointment is March 30. I am really really hoping some progress is made in these 2.5 weeks. So excited!!

Fantastic Denise ... it does sound like you're nearly done!!!

I've a damn gap stopping my debonding ... and it's so frustrating. I know it needs to close, but the appearance of my bite can't be improved without surgery ... so I just want my treatment over! I get a real case of the 'green envy monster' when I put bonded retainers on patients who have finished treatment ... ... ... but I know within a very short time I'll be getting mine on ... it just can't come fast enough.

All the best with those two gaps ... they will be gone within 2.5 weeks ... and you will be finsihed! Yah to you!

Oh Denise, I am so jealous... But more than that, I am SO EXCITED for you!! I can just picture you waking up every few hours, checking on the gaps, and as soon as you see they're closed, calling up the ortho and saying, "Okay, they're closed! Hurry up and take these darn things off!" (Oh, sorry... I think that would be ME, not you... haha) I cannot wait to see your "nekkid" teeth pics!

I can't even imagine what TWO powerchains, one on top of the other, would feel like. Would you mind posting a pic? I would love to see what that looks like. I have a sinking feeling I'll have to have that done eventually, too. The one chain that I have now has really done a good job of closing the gaps, but it seems to have stalled out.

    Good job, sister!

I'll post pics soon as I get home from my weekend away! I am so so so so so excited. I am completely DONE with this braces stuff. I am really just wanting these off. I watch the gaps 3 times a day and it's like watching paint dry. Only slower. And with much better results to look forward to.

Glad to hear you're almost done with your braces!
I wanted to ask you about your extractions that you had, since i'm also getting extractions done this Tuesday (2nd premolars), have you noticed any changes in your facial profile? I know Sunny answered this slightly in a thread I made, but I was just curious to know from someone who's almost finished. I heard that some people's mouths become rather flat and long faced - like from the bottom of the nose to the chin is like a straight line and it's unattractive - while others have said that they look like they've slimmed down a bit but in a nice positive manner. Is this happening with you?

I'm really nervous about the whole procedure and would like some feedback from your experience. I have an open bite tendency (slight open bit right now) and I have one tooth on my lower arch that is turned (no space for it to move) and my upper arch is "flared" a bit. My ortho also mentioned that my arches are wider than she wants. You can see my pictures in my thread if you'd like ^^.

    Thank you in advanced!
