Arch wire today

Well 20 days ago I had all my brackets put on and my lower wire put on. The pain and misery that caused me for the better part of two weeks is well documented here in my blog. However, as of today I have no more mouth pain, except for the occasional sore spot from a callus in my cheeks. The tooth sensitivity is gone. My sense of taste has mostly returned. I know having the arch wire put on today will cause a lot of pressure and discomfort over the next few days. My top teeth need the most work. I had two teeth pulled to make room for them all to move and straighten two very crooked teeth. I am excited to start seeing those teeth straighten up though! I never thought I'd have beautiful, straight top teeth!

    Hi Denise,

Glad to hear that your lower teeth are feeling better. The first week or two definitely seems to be the hardest. Hopefully any discomfort from your new upper wire will pass quickly, and you'll soon be seeing some great changes! It's amazing how quickly the teeth can move.

How is your sister getting along with her braces?

Sister is still in pain. She had the lower spacers removed when her brackets were put on and she got her lower wire put in, but then they put spacers up top which hurt even more in combination with the brackets and lower wire. I think today she is finally feeling better, and tomorrow she gets her arch wire put in so I think they'll be taking her spacers out at that time as well. She's going through a lot more pain than I did at first and my heart breaks for her, but I know we'll both be glad we did this when it's all over.
