Could it be possible? Could things be getting...better?!

So it's the end of day four. My cheeks are healing from my very brutal mistake of not slathering on tons of wax the minute the brackets went on. I have a cut on the tip of my tongue that hurts pretty bad from hitting it on one of the brackets but that will heal. My teeth are still incredibly sensitive to pressure. I can't chew a potato chip. I had a black olive with dinner and it even hurt to bite into that. Is this normal?! Also, I found some Freedent at the store and bought a pack, but it's stick gum and is way too hard for me to chew. I also noticed it's not sugar free. Is there a sugar free Freedent that I'm not seeing?

I stopped by the doc's office yesterday to get more wax and besides giving me 10 more packs of it, they also gave me two vials of Gishy Goo. I really like this so much better than wax. I carry wax in my purse while on the go, but I put on the Goo in the morning and after brushing at meals and it doesn't shift around nearly as much as the wax does. I highly recommend it!

So now I'm actually looking forward to each day, knowing that it's not going to hurt as bad. I still have that top wire, and surgery, to go through, but at least I'll get a bit of a reprieve this week from the pain. I just hope I'm able to eat solids again (someday!!!)

Fantastic to read that you're feeling heaps better!

I've never seen Gishy Goo ... but it sure sounds great!

Sometimes teeth will hurt when you chew on them, if they're just beginning to move. Hopefully that's what's happening to your teeth that are most sensitive.

Keep trying to chew, especially with your side and back teeth, and hopefully you'll find it becomes easier each day.

Here's to things continuing to improve quickly!

Gishy Goo looks like a neat product.

Hope you get back to eating normally again soon!

Glad to hear that the pain is starting to let up, Denise!

The pressure pain was the worst for me during the first 2 to 3 days, especially on the teeth that were the most out of alignment. As Sunny said, it does get better with each day, though.

I've never used Gishy Goo - will have to ask my ortho if they have some I can try. Wax helps a lot with sharp edges, but it does have a way of shifting around.

Gishy Goo is the best. It doesn't shift or move. But when it's time to come off, it peels off very nicely and easily, and doesn't stick to the brackets. It's kind of tricky to use at first. You squeeze out a very tiny amount, mix it together and roll it into a ball. Then, just like the wax, you place the ball of goo on your bracket and give it about two minutes to 'set'. Once its set, you're worry free pretty much all day. I change my goo three times a day after brushing. It says not to sleep with it in, but I do because it's still too painful on my cheeks to not have those brackets covered and I've never had it shift or come loose.
